Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brannan Bell & Sabah Khan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Brannan Bell & Sabah Khan, thanks for joining us today. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
The education system isn’t suited for everybody. Personally, growing up in a public school system and then shortly after having to figure out what we were going to study to enter college, and do for a career direction that we potentially will have for the rest of our lives. Now, that’s quite a lot of pressure and is also fed by tradition. It’s what everyone else around you does and it’s also what those who came before you did too. We both personally don’t have any kids right now, but we would like to do things differently, than maybe how we were taught to do, when our time comes to make those decisions and provide opportunity to our loved ones.
There’s also so much beauty in the intention and art of homeschooling. Children have the opportunity to learn and develop in different ways, outside of the system. It’s important to be in touch with nature, and not in such a structured and strict learning environment that brings anxiety for some students. Alternative ways of learning and attending trade schools are more valuable now, than ever.
Experiencing life ourselves and looking back now, college really wasn’t needed to be doing what we’re both, individually and creatively, doing together now. Limitations, rules, and making decisions based off a place of pressure, isn’t productive. We’re not saying don’t go to college, we just think that you can really go above and beyond to do whatever it is you want to do in life, outside of the categories given to you. Create space to be yourself and think for yourself too and also inspire those around you to do the same.
Brannan Bell & Sabah Khan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We’ve known each other since the 5th grade in Oklahoma. We’re two best friends, and an educational, fun-loving podcast that’s creating conversation surrounding topics that we’re curious about, passionate about, areas we want to gain more knowledge in, while shifting perspectives and opening minds, with intention to create better lives for ourselves and those tuning in.
Our podcast platform is a safe place to share your story. It’s built from an organic foundation, which we vibe with. We have the opportunity to interview people in the cannabis industry, patients, creatives, healers, & anyone who has something we’re curious about! We like to focus on the education aspect. That’s what it all starts with.
Cannabis is what initially brought us to the table and breaking the stigma, but we’re so much more than the benefits the plant brings to our lives! So it’s time to shift perspectives and have new and exciting conversations that our listeners will be interested in, since they’ve been rolling with us and kind of know what to expect!
This year, we’re bringing the conversation to new heights and diving deep into different thoughts and ideas! We have passions and things that pull out the curiosity in us, stuff we’re fascinated by and want to learn more about, and things that we’re personally interested in. Like, success, taking care of our mental and physical health, different forms of plant medicine, and how having perspective is key! Tune in, while we break it all down, hangout and share stories, experiences, talk about life, and be inspired by other talented and creative individuals.
Everything has been organic for us. It all started with a silly high thought, that led to creating conversation around the cannabis plant that had just become legal in Oklahoma. So, we decided to come out of our own smoking closets, let people around us know that we’re here for the passing of SQ788 and we also wanted to shed light surrounding cannabis and the opportunity that it was bringing to the people of our state, along with the history being made. We filled the need for an educational podcast platform for new and seasoned consumers to come listen, be a fly on the wall and learn about a healing plant and the benefits it brings, while learning all of the basics and how to’s along the way.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
To begin, every individual on this planet has the potential inside of them to be creative and pull that out of themselves. It’s solely up to you.
We’ve both worked 9-5 jobs and have had the opportunity to experience different work settings. Always having it inside of us to want something more, create something that came from our minds that we brought to life and listening to our own inner intuition isn’t always easy. There’s plenty of people and even family around, who don’t and will not ever understand that creative life of an entrepreneur, and figuring out how to have multiple ways of income for yourself that’s not sitting at a desk all day or working for someone else for a set time, multiple days during the week. To rise above that mindset and to want more for yourself is sometimes looked down upon, especially to those who just can’t wrap their minds around why you would want to do that to yourself.
We both grind with avenues outside of our podcast that we’ve built together too. We’re always learning, growing, evolving and expanding, and not letting new opportunities to earn pass us by. To create room to do this involves making yourself a little uncomfortable, being willing to take risks and always believing in yourself and your own ability and running with your good ideas.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being true and authentic to yourself and who you are, deep down, goes a long way and people will see you shine. It’s inevitable. We have always had a strong sense to not be something we are not and feel like we have had a good moral compass, along with good intention of what we want to show and do for people. Good things happen when you allow things to unfold organically and just be yourself. Paying attention to our energies and where we want to place them has always been something we take pride in when it comes to creating a vibe or making others feel comfortable. Also, creating conversations with so many different walks of life and having a variety of people on our podcast has really shown people that we’re open and down to have honest and vulnerable conversations. People go crazy for authenticity. Be light and light will follow your pathway.
