We’ve always tried to ask the questions that matter but that are too awkward for people to ask their friends, family and coworkers without seeming dramatic. One of those questions is about mission and purpose – when’s the last time you asked a friend what their mission was? Too often we don’t talk about our own missions and don’t ask those close to us about theirs with the result being that our missions remain secret. Are you just a doctor or are you a doctor who wants to be there for patients in the way you wished your father’s doctor had been? People have incredible and meaningful missions, and we hope our conversations asking folks about their mission can inspire more such conversations in your life.

As a futurist and thought leader in the future of work, I have often spoken about artificial intelligence, data analytics, and emerging technology as it relates to work, the workforce, and workplace. Whether on stages such as TEDx, podcasts, articles on Forbes and Yahoo, etc. I’ve always spoken about all of those areas with the underlying theme of the importance of inclusion, specifically highlighting disability inclusion. After having two of my three children in the US, and realizing the lack of support families receive here, I decided to do something about it. I don’t think it’s right for new moms to feel alone in postpartum, or to have to be worried about basic essentials for their family. My mom was a mom in need, and after becoming a mom myself, I can’t imagine how hard that must have been for her. Read more>>

As a boudoir photographer, I understand how vulnerable it is to get in front of the lens. Getting photos taken of yourself can sometimes have a reputation of being vain, or even egotistical, but I can tell you that it is anything but. Photography is a tool that allows you to freeze time, and to see yourself painted in a different light. I use photography to empower individuals with an experience that can be both healing and a ton of fun! Read more>>

My mission is to bridge the gap between the clinical and spiritual practices regarding wellness. I ofter get the question, why name your salon “Beauty Shop”? It seems dated or “old fashioned”. And that was honestly the point. *gear up, long story Growing up in rural North Carolina, my dear friend’s mother owned a salon, attached to the gas station beside her house. Her customers LOVED her, and were life time guests of the shop. Some ladies were there once a week, every week, until the day they died. And sometimes, even then, she would do it one more time. The story behind my mission has been indirectly and directly clear to most creatives, but not to black & white business colleagues. My mission in short, has always been to create a platform for ample amount of emerging & creative individuals to voice, visualize and bring to life their talent in a welcoming way. Understanding first hand how those with less knowledge of art or how it creates fun fellowship atmospheres criticize the work and energy of artist of all sorts generally makes me want to develop avenues that affect the public and surrounding communities in the most positive way possible in the humanitarian, fashion and art fields. We all remember Hurricane Harvey. In some way, every single one of us was affected by it in the Houston area. During those days, we were commenting on how many groups from out of the area were coming in to help the Houston community. As great as it was and as thankful as we were for those groups, we felt that we should also be doing something. And with that, the idea for a non-profit barbecue company that could serve people and communities at their greatest moment of need was birthed. Read more>>

I have seen firsthand how clutter and disorganization can destroy lives. It can tear relationships and families apart, drive businesses to the ground, create sickness and mental health problems, lower self esteem and negatively affect finances. But, it’s the impact it has on children that drives me to do what I do. The success of a child starts in the home and if the home is mired with clutter and chaos, the child’s chances of success severely diminish. Read more>>

The inspiration for Zen Soul Balance was birthed as a means of caring for people from all walks of life, who desperately want to live above physical and mental dis-ease and often don’t know where to begin or what to do. Profoundly influenced by my younger sister and her struggle with cerebral palsy; her life journey makes me believe that every individual possesses the ability to heal themselves from within and be resilient in the face of life’s toughest challenges. Just as a lotus flower begins its growth at the bottom of muddy, murky water, and slowly emerges toward the surface as a beautiful blossom, I aspire to guide people to a beautiful life despite their story, wounds, challenges and fears. I opened Powerhaus in 2019 to make eating healthy both simple and enjoyable for my San Diego community. After seeking to find a better balance between going to the gym daily, eating “clean” all week, then guiltily ordering a thin-crust pizza from the likes of Domino’s, I literally took pizza making into my own hands and the idea for Powerhaus was born. The mission of A Charming Home is to help people reframe their relationship to their home–to bring beauty and intention to their daily life–through decluttering, organizing, and styling. This mission grew out of a lifelong interest in interior design that was honed by each new place I have lived. It just so happened that every place I chose to live was small and historic, which presented organizational challenges I learned to overcome. Over the years I have developed a practice of what I call livable minimalism: Read more>>

One of the main reasons Reed Design Group was created was to help businesses present their goods and services with a high-quality, professionally designed Homebase. Many owners feel they can create website designs for their brand using off-the-shelf options that seem quick, easy, and cheap. Only to find they’re frustrated with the amount of time it took to create the right look, as well as it may not function the way they expected it to. Read more>>

They arrive in my office battered, broken, and defeated. They see me as another person in the educational system who is just going to beat them down again. I hear it in their voices when I say, “tell me what you plan to do once you get your diploma?” They are so broken sometimes that they’ve stopped dreaming. I didn’t start this homeschool journey because I wanted to. I did it because this was the only tool that I had to save my own children. Read more>>

Honestly, the story behind my mission is unfolding everyday. My childhood was traumatic and unconditional, that became the fuel to my drive. I didn’t want to be anything like my parents, I realized that at about ten years old. I had one goal, to become a professional baseball player. My baseball dreams died off with an injury, and everything I once dreamed of died off with my injury. It took me a long time to find that passion again. It’s not just creating content, but the freedom to pursue my passions, through my camera. Read more>>

My mission with The Goldenbrand Virtual Studio is to show a refreshing take on beauty and self love through photography, specifically the back camera lens. I felt there was a lack of representation for real women who wanted real photos that weren’t overly curated or photoshopped. They struggle with truly believing themselves to be unphotogenic and unworthy of a beautiful photograph. Read more>>

I’m going to go back to when I attended Community College in IL back in 2004. I started taking classes for Design & Illustration. As a young girl, I loved art and even though it was my favorite subject in Highschool, I felt like there was no career as an artist. As a lost teenager not knowing my next move, I took the year off from school and worked at any job I could get. I then decided to take community college art classes which led me to fall in love with creating all over again. From drawing & painting to digital work with Photoshop & Illustrator. I even took coding classes and built my first website from code for my boyfriend at the time. Read more>>

When I started studying Fashion Design, I learned that self-expression can start conversations. Very much like art, someone’s outfit can bring up ideas bluntly or subtly.
