We were lucky to catch up with Brese Squires recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brese, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I Performed if front of a Crowd for the very 1st time as a young Teen. I Love To sing and Perform for the People.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
When I was a young Boy I Always Love to Sing in Talent Shows & in Church Choirs and School Music Class. Those were the Days that Taught me how to create my own style early. Moving to St.Louis was the Best Choice I ever made, Cause It’s where I got my 1st Break into the Music Biz. I met A Young Talented Music Producer that gave me my 1st Shot to Record my 1st Song off my Album Called “Make It Bounce” I promoted my New Single at the Time in 2001 at the Clubs and I Hit the Streets Promoting Every Weekend. I went on for years promoting and Performing Songs off my Album around St. Louis, Chicago, California & New York City. Things Really Started to Take off when I shot My 1st Music Video In my Hometown of Cape Girardeau Mo. Those opportunities lead me to get Radio Airplay on College Radio Stations, Internet Radio and even Europe Radio Stations. I’m Proud of myself for my Longevity of 23 Years and still Singing R&B Music.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The Most Rewarding is to have the Freedom to express your Feelings and emotions on Paper then to the Studio & then to your Fans. That’s the Beauty of Music and Writing your own material.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Well when I started out In this Music Biz, there was not much Social Media going on. We as Artists had to do things the old Fashion Way and handed our Music to the Fans in Person. Now it’s much easier to gain a huge following with all the Social media Outlets worldwide. I’m not mad at all cause I use Social Media to Promote me & my Brand. Social Media was the Prime Reason that my Music made it over Seas to Europe Radio. I will tell anyone starting out use your Best Resources that works for you. Never pass up and opportunity to promote yourself in whatever you do.
