Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jaxson Hughes-Page. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jaxson thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to make music when I was five years old. As I got older, other things such as sports grabbed my interest, but music was always in the back of my mind. I didn’t start actually making music until February of 2022, which was my freshman year in high school.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My stage name is JaxTheKidd, as my name is Jaxson. I thought of the name after taking inspiration from Juice WRLD’s original stage name JuiceTheKid. At the same time, it had been something I had wanted as my name for a long time. While I’m primarily a hip hop/rap artist, I try to experiment with different genres of music so I have versatility and so people can’t label me as one certain thing.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
In my opinion, the most rewarding thing is for people to come up to me and say “Hey I really like your music.” It’s such a simple gesture, but to me it means a lot as making music is my dream and I hope people enjoy it. Something else that would be rewarding would be listening to a song after I finished making it. I love listening back and thinking “Oh this one is a hit right here.”

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first started taking music seriously, a lot of people told me that I would never make it. Even my own mom told me that it was a long-shot and that I needed to think long term. But I didn’t listen to them. I blocked out that negativity and I continued doing what I love. I haven’t made it yet, you know it’s not like I’m topping the Billboard Charts, but I’m doing things that a lot of people my age aren’t. I mean I’ve performed two shows, and I have over 1,000 total streams across all platforms. As a 16 year old who started making music in his room as a freshman in high school, it’s pretty cool to see how far I’ve come.
