We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lil Prince Charmin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lil Prince below.
Lil Prince, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
At 2yrs old I saw the movie Get On Up and fell in love with Mr James Brown. I have watched every video or documentary and commercial Mr Brown has ever done. At the age of 6yrs old I told my mom, “Momma back in the day when I was 2yrs old I discovered I had James Brown’s legs and I need to show the world these legs” and my mother has been on a mission every since to help me make my dreams come true.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an 11yr old entertaining recording artist from New Orleans who writes all and produces some of my very own music. My birth name is Paris Josef Nicholas and I’m also known as the #princeofnola.
I started performing at the age of 4yrs old doing James Brown covers then moving on to the King of Pop Michael Jackson. Ever since my mother was 6 months pregnant I have been dancing. According to my mother I use to dance all night in her belly keeping her awake. My grandmother has called me happy feet since I started walking.
At 6yrs old my mother started me a Facebook page called Paris Josef aka Baby Brown. Eight months after creating my Facebook page, I gained over 18k Facebook followers with a plethora of viral videos. I have performed on over 50 stages. I have fans all over the world including Brazil, the UK, and all across America.
Also at 6 years old, I was Mr Bootsy Collins special guest at the James Brown 86th Birthday Bash celebration. There I had a chance to meet Mr Browns’ daughters Dr Deanna Brown Thomas and Dr Yamma Brown and the original JB’s. Mr Bootsy Collins also featured me when I was then, Baby Brown, in his tribute to Mr James Brown video Still the Man.
I have been debuted on 2 local News stations here in New Orleans. I got to do a live segment with the late great Nancy Parker Boyd, journalist at WVUE Fox 8. I also did an interview and write up story with Mr Wild Bill as seen on TV 23-time Emmy Award Winning features reporter at WGNO. I have even cameoed in a Juan Lafonta commercial featuring Big Freedia.
I have been performing all over the world and hitting stages with a plethora of New Orleans local talent including Tucka King of Swing, Rockin Dopsie Jr, Gina Brown, Casme, Shamarr Allen, Fresh X Reckless, Dee1, Dwayne Dopsie, and Hot Boy Ronald.
I even hold the title the youngest entertainer to perform at the House Of Blues New Orleans. I also have gotten my feet wet in ballroom dancing. I participated in the 15th and 16th annual Martin Marino’s Ballroom dance challenge. My team and I even brought home a trophy.
Besides performing on stage across the globe I love Thomas and Friends. I have collected thousands of trains and can design exquisite tracks as long as our home in minutes. I have been able to identify every train since the age of 2. I now have a YouTube channel called PJ Creations where I have created a video universe combining Thomas The Tank Engine, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Sonic, and Mario into a comedy show. Here is where I get to write, direct, produce, act, narrate, voice over, edit, and dance all in one segment.
However, I don’t love Thomas the train more than I love the ladies. In fact, I released my single out now on all streaming platforms called I Like It When She Go (Bop) dedicated to all the beautiful women all over the world that love to dance and most importantly are doing positive things.
Fun fact I‘ve been growing my hair pretty much since birth. Because the ladies love my locks I will never cut it.
When I’m not entertaining crowds or creating entertaining content, I really enjoy family time. I love being the baby of the bunch and learning life lessons from my older siblings. I enjoy playing games like Headbandz, Among Us, Mario Kart, Connect Four, UNO, and Call Of Duty. I also enjoy watching comedy movies and based on true story movies about the greats with my family. I also enjoy spending time at trampoline parks to catch up with cousins and friends. I am also a Roblox head.
However, my favorite family member of all is my grandmother Willie Mae Parks. Mom calls us 2 peas in a pod. I really look forward to school breaks and concert breaks to spend time with my favorite girl.
I am an honor roll student and I take education very serious. My favorite subject is ELA. I love writing.
I wish one day to challenge Chris Brown and Usher in a dance off. Also to create a single with Dj Khaled combing Mr James Brown’s style with Mr Micheal Jackson’s Bad because Dj Khaled “He’s the Best”.
My goal is to add a “little bit mo” to shows all over the world and to help bring chivalry back to the world to date. I am on a mission being known as the positive vibe needed for our youth today. But I’m going to need the world’s help!!!
Just recently, with the help of @myke_livinlegend choreography to my single, I created a dance challenge for my single I Like It When She Go (Bop) that has made its way to Africa bringing love and unity to the world through my music and dance.
Make sure to follow me on Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube, Facebook and all music streaming sites @lilprincecharmin to see what shows I have coming up, what new music I have coming out, and/or just for pure fun and entertainment.
Also be on the lookout for new music from LPC. I have been cooking in the lab with NappyBoys own producer/engineer Deeday. Also I will be playing “The Kid” in Them Boys At War Tv Series called “The Other Side Of Bourbon Street” a true story based on the life of Terrance Gangsta Williams.
I am truly ready to learn as much as I can from this industry and take this world by storm!!
“I enjoy doing what makes me happy and music makes me happy. And when I’m happy and having fun on stage it becomes a chain reaction to my audience. Everyone knows it’s going to be a good time when Lil Prince Charmin is on the line up”.
When asks who else I would like to work with one day, I say, “I would like to collaborate with a few actually, Lil Wayne, Lil Baby, Kanye West, Drake, Beyonce, Lauren Hill, Busta Rhymes, and Mystikal”.
Stay tune for “The Real Life Prince Charmin Experience”.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to bring real feel good music back like my mother and grandmother had in their day. I have and plan on always creating music that brings people together. Like I said earlier my single I Like It When She Go (Bop) has made its way all the way to Africa. And man did it feel good to see the kids @firekstars enjoying my music and looking as though they were really enjoying the song made my heart dance.
I want to be able to take over where Mr Michael Jackson left off and change the world through my music and celebrate the power of love and unity!!!! “Let’s Go New Orleans!!!”
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I believe society should give kids a chance to be kids. What I mean by that is, I see more adult celebrities and influencers make kids with adult inappropriate content go viral everyday stating “it’s a shame to see a little girl dancing to Sexy Red or rapping about sex and killing” but they keep sharing it. By the time they finish sharing it that negative kid has gone viral now influencing other kids to rap about negative things because they want to be like this kid because this kid went viral. When the adults should ignore the kid doing negative things on social media and share the kids like me that are doing positive things and bringing great music so that the positive kids can go viral and become the new influencers. I believe most kids don’t really care about the content or the lyrics they just want to hear good sounding music that they can dance to. And that’s what I’m bringing all day everyday. I just don’t think the adult celebrities and influencers are smart enough to realize they are creating the algorithm of social media by sharing negativity to so many followers and this is why all you see on social media is BS all day. Start sharing and posting only on positive post and watch what happens.
