We recently connected with Bobby Gunnz and have shared our conversation below.
Bobby, appreciate you joining us today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
I’m very loyal and I had to understand that my loyalty doesn’t always add up to the Loyalty of other people I hold dear to me. (Just a little back story.) I would oppose anyone who came for us or one of us in a foul manner. When people would come for me in a negative way slandering my name with lies not being honest making up things and things of that nature my friends thought it was okay to laugh and joke and I didn’t think that was cool because I take your brand as serious as I do mine so to see that is my friends aka my brothers didn’t do the same for me it let me know I have to protect me from in and outside people who don’t wanna see u do anything greater then them. They don’t mind ur progress as long as ur not progressively doing better then they are.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Bobby Gunnz born and raised in Las Vegas Nevada. I have loved music before I even knew that music was called music there was something about the beat preparation and the words on the beat to make the melody that was just intriguing to me. I personally can’t sing but my first influence into music was RNB. I really loved RNB music and still do but me not being able to sing I always felt like there was no place for me in the music industry. Until I heard my first NWA album. At that point in time I realized that there is other ways in other possibilities for music besides the traditional singing & guitar playing and things of that nature. With the idea that I would be able to put words together that rhymed and turn them into a song and not have to sing them was great, so what I did was I started to freestyle my own rap music not knowing how to count in a bar system a friend of mine taught me how to count bars and at that time I really began to dig into my craft I also figured out that just because I couldn’t sing doesn’t mean I can’t write RNB music so I started to write RNB music as well. My love for the music is the reason for me doing music there is nothing else or anything else I would be able to tell you drives me or my passion for music but the love. I would love to be able to see a financial gain for my craft really soon but that does not stop me from putting out the music that I put out because this is from the heart. I’m very proud of what I am able to distribute to the public/masses and I think that if people were to actually tap in and listen to what I am saying they would see that there is a bigger message inside of my craft then just something that sounds good. I am a Solo Artist and I’m also in a group called The Scholaz when I am with The Scholaz I do my best to not use profanity and to give a family-oriented listening experience, but I am Bobby Gunnz and when you get Bobby Gunnz you get raw live in direct. As my Father would say! “If It Ain’t Real It Ain’t Right”. That’s my foundation of Ethics. And if the truth hurts it’s supposed to!!!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being the artist is when you actually see tears fall from someone’s eyes because they can feel your point of view and where you’re coming from, from a song that you released so people could understand or see your point of view on a situation and the way it happened. And they been thru something so similar it touches their soul a little

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Watch out for the people who speak negative about you in rooms that you’re not in then see you and smile on your face those are the people who are actually in the background doing all of the work to bring you further away from the path that you are on stay focused and keep your mind on your path so that you can see the end of that road and possibly begin to lay new asphalt that leads you to a greater path!
