We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tara Clark. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tara below.
Tara, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
When I hear the word “legacy”, it makes me think of what I’m leaving behind after-death or what a 95 year old me would say, reflecting on life. But I like to think of my legacy is something I’m a partner with each day. As I see it, my legacy is twofold: one in my son and two in my business.
For my son, each day he grows more mature, more independent, and learns to be a kind human being. So when he grows up and I am 95 years old I can look back and be proud of the decisions that we made that helped him become the man he will be.
For my business I hope my legacy is that I helped women feel like they are not alone and helped to normalize previously taboo topics. Each day when I log on to my Instagram account, I’m able to interact with my followers saying thank you for sharing the content I do. It helps them feel a part of our online village or empowers them to keep on being a great mom. New moms are made everyday and we welcome them into our community with open arms.
So saying what I hope my legacy will be and what gets me out of bed every morning are one in the same.
Tara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started my account in 2016, which was on the early side of Instagram. When I got the idea for a parenting Instagram account I told my friends and family and they laughed because they didn’t fully understand what that even meant. I got a lot of, “What do you mean you’re going to start a parenting account and then monetize it? What even is that?” Well, it definitely become something! Through the help of my Instagram mom friends and a wonderful community of content creators over the past 6 years I have been able to build my account and my brand into what it is today. It also helps that it was what I like to call the Golden Age of Instagram, a time before Facebook wanted it to compete with other apps. If I were to offer up advice for building a social media account, the word is definitely community. Community is at the heart of everything I do and it’s at the heart of my success. So find your community, foster your community and the followers will come. Of course, having great content and being consistent is all part of it as well. People don’t want to go to a party that’s boring. So make sure you give them a reason to follow.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What has helped my reputation in my industry is being supportive of others, especially new, up-and-coming content creators. I truly believe all the ships rise together, and as I mentioned, community is at the heart of everything I do. That has been a consistent guiding light in my approach to social media and to building a brand. There is enough room at the table for everyone and being cooperative and collaborative gets you much further than not, especially when you start to realize your space is smaller than you once imagined.
