We were lucky to catch up with Zach Tate recently and have shared our conversation below.
Zach, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career.
I have a workshop called , “Real Life,” that I present to students. I would like to revolutionize the educational system to be able to compete with other countries, and to teach students just how good they have it, despite their current situation.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew up in the warzone of the South Bronx during the 70’s-90’s. In that jungle I decided that I wanted to be king. I lived the life of extravagance that ended up with 13 attempts on my life, was shot on two separate occasions, and I served 20 Years in prison. While serving time, I transformed my life and learned how to help others in transform theirs. I became a best selling author with over 90,000 readers and to date I’ve written over 33 books.
As a speaker, the most rewarding feeling is when a hopeless student approaches me and tells me how one of my phrases gives them hope. I am most proud of the respect my son and daughter has for me, and how I impact young people on social media daily. Life is often a culmination of what you tell yourself, and if you don’t have a great guide, mentor or voice of reason, one can convince themselves that life is difficult. I am grateful that everyday I am that voice, mentor and my books guide others to their greatest life.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Authenticity. People don’t read many self-published books anymore, but when I ask new followers on social media why me, they often respond to my authenticity. My ability to be vulnerable, truthful and raw, appeals to many people for many reasons. Those people tell people, and the people they tell, tells others about my messages and my clientele grows. at 53 years old, I haven’t mastered the social media algorithm to create more brand awareness, but I am not selling a gimmick, I am helping others live a greater life.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to create films that educate the imagination of the masses, to influence them to love life, live it to the fullest and allow simple experiences to feel amazing.
