Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jared Givens. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jared, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Three years ago, I bought a journal and some pens from the grocery store. I started journaling to work on my mental health. After a few months passed, I began tracking my goals in that journal. Eventually, I started writing my first self-help book “No Wasted Movement: Growing In Discomfort.” Since then I have published an additional self-help book and a horror novel.
One of the first steps is belief. If you believe you can do it, whatever “it” is, then chances are you will find a way to make it happen. To be successful, one must be disciplined and consistent enough to go beyond their capacity. Motivation is temporary while discipline can last a lifetime. Pushing the limits to reach another level is the bright side of the journey.
To be successful, you must believe in yourself, have a vision, and consistently take the steps needed to reach your vision. Three years ago, I never imagined becoming an author or screenwriter. But through consistent effort and belief, I accomplished unexpected goals. Now I feel called to tell stories for as long as I can.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m an author from Wichita, Kansas. I attended Fort Hays State University for three years before transferring to Bethel College to finish my career as a football player and academically. I’m currently a junior at Bethel College studying Business Management. I grew up reading books about adventure, mysteries, and horror. Reading books from James Patterson, R.L. Stine, and Stephen King, and many more inspired me to write stories of my own.
I began journaling in the summer of 2021. After a year of consistent writing, I released my first self-help book “No Wasted Movement: Growing In Discomfort.” This is a short book about personal growth and discipline. Last March, I released another self-help book that highlights mental health and psychological studies.
After writing two self-help books, I was inspired by authors and filmmakers from my favorite genre, horror. In October, I released my first horror novel “Roll Call.” This is a story about a group of parents who work together to protect their children from a malevolent cult at their elementary school. I recently finished writing the screenplay for Roll Call. I’ve always been interested in horror movies. I’m proud of the screenplay that I wrote. One day, I would like horror fans everywhere to enjoy this story in theaters.
For potential clients, followers, and fans; I’ll be 22 in February. Even though I’ve published three books and have written a few screenplays, I still feel like a beginner. I’m just getting started. I plan on writing more books and more screenplays for years to come.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I enjoy the process of writing books. But recently, I’ve been writing screenplays. One goal that is driving my creative journey is seeing a film I wrote in theaters. Two months after I released my horror novel “Roll Call”, I finished the screenplay based on the story. I’m excited to see how far this story will go.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative for me is being able to reach people everywhere. As an author, I realized that every book that I publish is a piece of myself given to the world. Additionally, receiving feedback whether it be good or bad helps me grow as an author. But the positive reviews always feel good.
