Ben , appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
The most important thing I learned was to treat everybody the same

Ben , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into it because I bought a camera at a pawnshop and then it just kind of took off from there. I don’t think that it’s a very glamorous story, but I just grind it and worked hard and everything came its way working hard and everything you do is very important And I believe your time matters. Also, you can’t just go out and party every weekend and expect to be great and everything you do.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’d like to think losing a lot of friends is something really big a lot of my friends kind of stop talking to me because I wanted to go and I wanted to become this great photographer and I wanted to become the best that I can be. I only have a few friends, but those two friends are stuck around or some of the greatest people I know and I’m very happy that they stuck around, and finally get to see my success because they are the ones that support.
It’s also watching a lot of people go to the bars every weekend and waste their money and just get blackout drunk when I’m at games across the country in a different state while they’re still in the same bars with the same people and they’re not doing anything with their lives.
It’s party after party until you wake up 15yrs later with no savings. No investment No qualifications No job just a gallery full of pictures and memories of people you don’t talk to anymore, Its just another day to remind you to keep your circle productive and have self discipline.
Also not doing drugs and smoking is a big thing in my life. I also don’t drink either. That’s why if I ever go out somebody buys me a water instead of a pop or a beer or something like that because I just don’t see the gratitude or the satisfaction and drinking anything but water also eating healthy as a very big part of my life working out staying active being fit. Since my injury in the army, though, it’s been kind of tough to do exercise, but I try to do what I can just to say healthy and stay active.
Have you ever had to pivot?
The only time I ever had to pivot was when I first got my brand new camera. I didn’t know how to use it that was one of the times where I was kinda like OK do I really want to continue to do this right after I spent thousands of dollars on a Camera. Because I went through a period at one time where I had a little camera and it wasn’t very good but I used it so much and I wanted to see could I actually want to keep doing this and after I bought that big purchase that was kind of like wow What did I just buy? I was kind of skeptical at first of it because it was a very big purchase. It’s one of the biggest I’ve ever made in my life.
When I also started doing photography I actually wanted to be a videographer first, but I learned that I can still do the same product just in still format so one of the biggest things that I had to learn was, do I actually want to be a videographer or do I want to be a photographer and one day I just said let’s try photos and ever since that day I went to a Murray State basketball game.
