Erin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
I got my first client that wasn’t a family member or friend from posting about me making my non toxic dry shampoo on Facebook. I wasn’t even posting to sell it, but posted because I felt like I wanted to share about the amazing product I had made and was using for myself. She asked if she could buy it and I told her heck yeah. And four years later, I now have hired my first employee and am so excited to keep rocking and rolling.
Erin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, my name is Erin Davis and I have been married for almost 10 years to my best friend and have 2 beautiful kiddos. I am the founder and owner of No Poo Products. I am a brand who focuses on clean and organic products with sustainability and green hair care at the forefront of importance and am based out of Northern Idaho!
I hand make all of No Poo Products organic hair and skincare using clean and gentle ingredients. A few of our favorite items and bestsellers are No Poo Dry Shampoo, Mermaid Texturizing + Growth Spray, and my Herbal Infused Whipped Body Butters. All of our products are non toxic, cruelty free, and made with organic plant ingredients.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I don’t have a ton of followers, but I am now over 3k and I have built it organically by being transparent and showing up on stories daily. Showing my face has been helpful in connecting with my audience and commenting on their posts and socials has also helped in building community. Regardless of how many likes a post gets, I still show up daily to nurture and provide information to my audience.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Weathering the storms of slow seasons with small business. I have realized that often, I have to believe in myself because nobody else will(besides my husband haha). We have to keep putting in the effort and be like Kobe Bryant who took 1,000 free throw shots daily in the off season so that in the on season, he would be ready.
