We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kimberly Carson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I named it after my daughter Colette and my love for all things French. I use a highly coveted French skincare line called Biologique Recherché and my studio is French themed. So Colette seemed fitting.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I had horrible skin as a teenager, I had to go to a Dermatologist to get antibiotics. They worked but only temporarily. My mom would take me to get facials and I was hooked. It’s been my mission for 30 years now to study the skin inside and out. I began using Biologique about 6 years ago and they are truly a game changer for the skin. Their holistic methodology resonates with me. I don’t believe in harsh treatments or products or fancy high tech machines. All in which can strip the precious skin barrier.. The hands are the best tool and consistent home routines are a must as well as a healthy lifestyle. I love helping people achieve glowing skin.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My husband and three kids moved to Arizona in 2019. I had my hopes of opening my studio when we got settled. Then Covid hit. The future was uncertain but I took a leap of faith and opened with all my savings, my favorite product line Biologique. I was the second in Arizona to carry it and I believed with all my heart it would take off.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I’ve never owned a CC. I’m terrified of debt but I’ve learned you have to spend money to make money.
