We recently connected with Sarah Henson and have shared our conversation below.

Sarah , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

“Blessings Photography is made from love and a deep desire to bless others through capturing a visual story for loved-up souls. My goal is to freeze that moment forever. Whether it be big or small, important to you or not. It’s still a memory. And I believe memories deserve to be captured and to have the ability to look back on them and remember it completely how it was. Because sadly memories fade in our minds but with the gift of photography you can have memories live on forever.

Sarah , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Well I’m Sarah. I’m 31 years old and I have an amazing family. My husband and I have been married for 11 years but together for 15. We have three beautiful children and a long haired mini dachshund. I was always drawn to photography but I never went full in. I always saw it more as a hobby, so with that I went to school to become an ultrasound technician. During this time I got married to my high school sweetheart who just enlisted. Fast forward 1 year we become pregnant and like so many out there we had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. After this devastating loss I couldn’t get back into the ultrasound / medical field due to all the tiggers it brought on. Fast forward a year and a half we welcomed a healthy baby into our lives and in this was a blessing. At this time I really got back into photography and was focused on children and family and portrait sessions. As my craft expanded and my experience was growing I stepped into the world of couples and weddings. I feel like no matter what we are always being blessed. With food, family, friends, jobs, hobbies, whatever it is count it as a blessing. My business name stems from that. God has blessed me so much and with the gift of photography. So now I bless others with said gift. All the glory goes to my Savior Jesus Christ.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Being completely true to yourself. Being honest and being able to relate to those around you is so important. I’m so open with everything about my life and I think my clients like that about me. I end up being a friend and not just the girl with the camera.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Definitely having a style. There are so many different photography styles out there and they are all so beautiful! But I can say without a doubt that if I was scrolling through IG and saw an image I would be able to identify which photographer took said photo. So in that I’ve demanded myself to stay true to my style and not fall into the cookie cutter styles out there. And in saying that, I’ve been told that others can pick out my images from a line up and identify me as the photographer for that image.
