We were lucky to catch up with ANTHONY CIERVO recently and have shared our conversation below.
ANTHONY, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Since the early 70s , my family business was in Delicatessen and Catering.
My background is in Computer systems and services. When I moved to Arizona in 2018 I noticed a huge gap in traditional Italian cooking and restaurants. Lots of stip malls and chain franchises.
I created NYC Catering Company LLC in 2019 to fill that gap in traditional Italian food. The company is turn key. Everything is purchased as needed to preserve quality and cost.
We partner with major food websites that manage or ordering system and payment collection to streamline our products.
It’s been very successful.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Greetings everyone.
My name is Anthony Ciervo. I am an Italian immigrant born in a small town near Rome called Latina in the Lazio region. My father and mother, both from southern Italy, also were born in small towns in Naples and Sicily respectfully.
My family migrated to New York City in the early 70s to the borough of The Bronx and quickly setup delicatessens and catering companies. Both my uncles cooked in high- end restaurants as executive chefs in the Arthur Avenue section.
My passion for cooking began at a very young age assisting my grandmother and working in my father’s business. I soon realized that this work was very demanding and chose to attend university to obtain a degree in Computer science.
Not until late in my adult life did I regain my passion in the culinary arts. I started NYC Catering Company LLC in 2019. I consider myself a traditional chef, my creativity was only to recreate the dishes of my past and beloved country using the best possible ingredients as I can obtain.
I truly enjoy cooking and love what I do with a passion. As the saying goes “Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life”..
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have never been a proponent of Social media networking. I grew up in the infancy of computer science era and worked in the computer field for many years. At that time, social media was a personal platform and very under developed.
Not until I started my company NYC Catering Company LLC did I consider it a great marketing and advertising tool. I know now that it is crucial and critical to any business if the want to succeed.
The key to any successful business is to keep your media content current and fresh.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The key to any success business is customer service. I am a true believer that answering calls, returning calls and giving the client a great experience is critical to a reputation of repeat and referral clients.
