We recently connected with Keyetta Pettiford and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Keyetta, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
It has been several risks I have took becoming a owner operator Truck driver. One is financial risk, As an owner operator, you are responsible for the financial aspects of your business, including purchasing or leasing a truck, maintaining it, and covering expenses such as fuel, insurance, and repairs. If your business experiences a downturn or unexpected expenses arise, you may face financial challenges which I did! It was a major risk that I took but I also learned a lot of things in the process. You have to take risk in order to succeed.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Keyetta Pettiford. I am the owner operator of my business The Key 2 Trucking. I have 2 amazing children that helps me to continue to push and grow! I got in the trucking industry following the footsteps from my Grandaddy and Daddy.
The best decision I’ve ever made! Even tho they’re no longer here I continue to keep them and the legacy alive!
Some things that set me apart from others are my reliability, professionalism and continuous learning.
I’m most proud of the fact I’ve never gave up! It was so many times I wanted to but I didn’t. Its so easy to just give up so when you don’t and you keep pushing be proud!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think me being a women in the trucking industry in my city helped me build my reputation. Socializing and networking attending seminars also helped me build my reputation.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m actually in the point of my life where I’m pivoting now. My Dad died in April 2022 and it took a toll. Everything was falling apart. From my life to my business. I had finally made the decision to pivot and start over the end of 2023 and even tho it took me a while to figure it out and I’m not all the way there yet I can honestly say I feel like I made a great decision to pivot, start over and make some changes.
In this process I’ve learned it’s never to late to start over!
