We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Khrystyna Chorna a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Khrystyna , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
I’ve had a bride that came to me 2 month before the wedding. On our first call It turned out she was struggling to figure out where to start and what she liked.
She told me “I honestly have no idea what information I am supposed to provide”.
Bride was very nervous and indecisive because the wedding day was nearing so fast
Thankfully I was able to help her narrow down the vision.
I suggested low centerpieces to make sure people can see each other, incorporate orchids to give a more luxurious feel and because she liked babies’ breath flowers I made sure that everything I was suggesting played well with them.
So we settled on a very lush baby’s breath arch and all white flower centerpieces.
I made sure the communication was super clear to build trust and relieve some of the pressure the bride was feeling.
Created a document where the bride was able to see all the progress and see what stage of the floral planning we are. It had all the contracts and mood boards in one place and also the finalized decisions that we made.
I presented a mood board with the digital mock ups of the arch and centerpieces to help her visualize flower arrangements we talked about.
3 weeks before the wedding we finalized all the details and made sure she was happy with the vision. And it seemed to take a lot of pressure off her.
When she saw the flowers on the wedding day, she was very happy and said “I love this baby’s breath arch! Exactly what I wanted and hoped for”.

Khrystyna , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I realized my passion for flowers at my very own wedding in Ukraine in 2014! I had this dream of a bouquet of field flowers.
I was impressed that my florist brought to life exactly what I had envisioned: a beautiful bouquet of colorful, dainty flowers. My mind was blown!
I couldn’t get these thoughts and feelings out of my head when I arrived in the US in 2017, so I found a florist school and began my journey into the world of flowers.
I love helping people. That’s why clients are not just numbers to me; they are real people with real stories and dreams!
I don’t just provide a generic service, but take the time to get to know my couples and understand their unique story and needs, to give them a personalized experience.
Everything I do is to make floral wedding planning easy and enjoyable. I love being a part of this journey and making the wedding dreams of my clients come to life!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me was honestly from my colleagues that i freelanced for over the years. The referrals and my strong relationships with people in the wedding industry like planners, photographers, other florists is what worked best in all 7 years on my career as a florist.
I can not stress enough about the importance of the word of mouth and also strong connections in the industry. In fact, studies have shown that referrals are one of the most effective marketing channels, with a high conversion rate and strong customer loyalty.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My clients are not just numbers to me; they are real people with real stories and dreams! That’s my motto, and I do everything to make sure my clients feel that.
I love my clients. I try to get to know them as people by asking questions that go beyond flowers and weddings. I might ask, “Do you love to travel? How did you meet? What or who inspires you?” I do my absolute best to ensure that their vision is realized, and I believe that’s what has truly helped me build trust and a good reputation over the years.
When clients tell me, “This bouquet really feels like me!” it’s the biggest compliment I could receive.
