Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sheetal Story. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sheetal, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s something crazy on unexpected that’s happened to you or your business

“I have a very specific set of skills” – cue the Liam Neeson sound bite. No I am not a contract assassin. I am a Psychic Medium, Professional Certified Astrologer, Grief Support Counsellor and Manifestation Master Coach. I definitely have an eclectic set of skills with many certificates to back them all up. But how it all started is quite the story. I was able to see spirit as a kid, but I used to get debilitating nightmares as a kid, and so at the age of 9 I turned off all of my gifts and just became a normal kid. I had a very good life. Born to immigrant parents, I was taught to work hard to make my mark in the world. I was an over achiever and graduated with a business degree and went to work in supply chain. After my 2nd child, my gifts flood back in. Now, mind you, this was now over 20 years later so I had truly forgotten what it was like to see dead people and what it felt like. It first started when my aunt came to visit from Texas when I was on maternity leave. My mom had brought her over to my house and she asked to see my iPad because she wanted to look something up. She was quite adept at using it for an aged East Indian woman, and I remember thinking “Wow! She’s good!”

My mom was definitely not as agile in the iPad.

And then all of a sudden my uncle (who had passed away 5 years prior to this) appeared behind her and looked at me! And then he said, “Isn’t she smart? And she is beautiful too!” And then he was gone.

Needless to say, I was stunned. What just happened?! I know those were not my words or my thoughts. Did I just make that up?! I was shooketh.

Later that day, I told my mom about the story and she said that I should tell my aunt. I was not prepared to be outed from the mediumship closet, let alone identify as a medium. Had I imagined it? I was quite sure if it had actually happened anyways.

The next day, I was at my parents’ house for tea and my mom outed me.

“Tell aunty what you told me.” Thanks mom.

So I told my aunt about what had happened, and instantly tears sprang to her eyes. She said, “he used to tell me I was beautiful every day that we were married.”

I had no idea.

I asked my mom and aunt, “So what about the smart comment?” I mean, my aunt was adept on the iPad for a senior but from what I knew she was a daycare worker when she immigrated from India. She loved children and was really good at her job.

My mom said, “She worked in the aerospace program in India before she came to Canada. Aunty is really smart!”

I had no idea!! It was after that incident that I started to have more and more experiences that then sent me on the path to understanding my gifts and seeking out mentors. Because I knew without a shadow of a doubt, there was no way anyone that could have been imagined. It was real.

As my path opened up to developing my gifts, more and more opportunities to help people and create a business around my gifts started flow into my life. I had always had a yearning to help people and really make a difference, but my credentials took me into the corporate world and making other people a lot of money.

Covid gave me the gift of a layoff from my job, that then paved the way for me to support people full time in their healing and personal development journey. I have now been full time and incorporated in my business for the last 3 years, helping 100’s of people each year strengthen and trust their intuition, while navigating grief and uncertain transitions, to live a life full of passion and purpose aligned with their cosmic design. Life is wild sometimes, but if you just allow the Universe to guide you, I find it always works out in the end.

Sheetal, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am a Psychic Medium, Professional Certified Astrologer, Grief Support Counsellor and a Law of Attraction Master Coach. While I have a business degree and come from a corporate background, my heart has always been helping people moving through grief and transitions. I now teach people how to cultivate and trust their intuition, overcome grief, self-sabotage and obstacles, to live a fulfilling life that aligns to their cosmic design. I offer Intuition Development classes, readings, and grief support counselling that addresses soul pain in the grieving process.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

As an achiever who was raised by immigrant parents, I grew up with a very strong work ethic. Work hard to make more money. That was the value and belief I learned. As an entrepreneur, that value can get you killed. You can work yourself into an early grave if you burn the candle at both ends as a business owner. So a lesson I had to learn is how to work smarter not harder. I usually book 3-4 months in advance, because there is such a high demand for the work that I do, which I feel very blessed for. But I have also had to be innovative to see how I can help more people with less in my schedule and also scale up my income. I created group classes and an amazing membership to teach people how to strengthen their intuition and manifestion skills and flow with the energy of the Astrology. We also do a lot of healing in that group. It has allowed me to be more fulfilled without giving up time with my family.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.

While I was working in my corporate job, my gifts started to resurface. As a child I could see dead people, and I consciously put that away to live a “normal life”. As my gifts flooded back, I could not deny them as they started to affect my life negatively when I tried to suppress them. I became anxious, I was always looking over my shoulder and I couldn’t seem to stay present. As I started to cultivate them, on the advice of a friend, I realized that this was a very big part of my life’s purpose. I started reading for clients on the side and allowed them to pay me what they felt the session was worth. I would see clients evenings, weekends and holidays, while I worked full time during the week and was raising a family in between with my extremely supportive husband. The demand for my services started to grow, and as I launched my Facebook page, my ability to share about what I was learning and help people started to spread further and further. So when I was released from my job when Covid hit, and my calendar opened up significantly, all my time slots filled within a matter of days for the coming months. It was as if the Universe perfectly timed my transition from corporate employee to entrepreneur!
