We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Yancy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
In my opinion, to be successful, you have to first make up in your mind that you are going to be successful. Success doesn’t happen after we decide we will be successful. It happens before. Your mindset is everything and your mind is powerful. I had to start telling myself “I will do this” and I did it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a board certified nurse practitioner. I own my own private practice where I specialize in long term weight loss and wellness. I’ve been in healthcare for over a decade, caring for the elderly. I noticed that lots of them struggled with common health conditions, but conditions that changed their lives and not for the better. My goal was to get people at a younger age to help them so they don’t have to experience those things that the elderly experience due to not taking care of themselves while they have the opportunity. I help my patients lose weight, but I also show them how to keep it off. I help them understand that their mind, body, and emotions matter so we have to control them all. My practice is unique because I made sure to focus on the brain and body, not just helping people look good on the outside. I am most proud that I executed on my plans and now live the life I used to dream about when I was an aide working in the nursing homes. I am the brand. I own multiple businesses that all point back to you being well and caring for yourself. If you take nothing else away from what I said, make sure to make time for you first so that your health isn’t forcing you to take a seat. Be in control of your health now, while you are able.
Have you ever had to pivot?
2023 challenged me as a business owner. My business was shifting and I felt like things were falling apart, but really everything was falling into place. I opened my doors to my practice in 2021 and ai have decided to transition to a holistic wellness practice tjat focuses on long term weight loss and wellness- without prescribing medication; through telehealth vs in persons
