We recently connected with Taylor Reliford and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name Taylor Made Experiences comes from a few different places. Growing up, people used to always have a play on my name wether it was “Taylor Gang”, “Taylor Made”, “TayTay” or even my great grandma calling me “Teller”. I knew that my names had to be included and unique. I was speaking to one of the people who encouraged me to start my business, Tiffany Green, and she suggested the same Taylor Made Creations which was a play on the the work “tailor”. Everyone knows when you go to a tailor, the point is for what that is being tailored to be specific to the person. Taylor Made Experiences because every event is more than an event, it is a luxury experience. A luxury experience that is full of unique ideas, creations, designs, and guaranteed happy clients. Taylor Made Experiences is luxury taylor-ed to you!

Taylor , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Taylor Made Experiences is a luxury event planning service dedicated to providing excellent service for that special event in your life no matter if it is a birthday, anniversary, proposal, baby shower, gender reveal, wedding event, romantic hotel get away, or even a luxury picnic on a cool Spring day. Located in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, we are dedicated to creating luxury “taylor-ed” to you.
TME began as a thought in 2020 as a thought that I mentioned to a friend. I was focused only on doing luxury picnics although I knew my skills reached far beyond only picnics. I completed my first picnic in September of 2021 after completing a lot of research and reaching out to other successful entrepreneurs whom I admire. I created a logo, a name, and contact information to get started. On October 5, I made Taylor Made Experiences official within the state of Texas.
I have always loved the feeling of making others happy and working behind the scenes. As a young adult, I was active in church with helping with weddings, decorating for various occasions, and creating table setting. Those experiences were what sparked the idea and the ground work for Taylor Made Experiences. I have successfully completed coordinating and decorating a wedding as well as gender reveal. Also TME has completed several luxury picnics, romantic hotel decors, some proposals, and even worked with a well known and respected Dallas Influencer, Kyra Henry.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Funding a business is not easy and is filled with lots of wins and losses. I quickly learned that sales and connecting with people who were reselling gently used items were my friend— my best friend. As a single and independent woman and college student, I did not have all of the funds, but I was open to taking the risk. I did not see profit in my business for about the first 6-8 months. Within those 6-8 months, I had to review my pricing, the cost of supplies, as well as the market cost of those around me. Inflation and traveling were also other factors that I originally did not consider when staring a business. I worked additional hours on the full and part time job I had to provide for the events that I had while still learning. Market pricing and networking was a major learning lesson and benefit for me in the funding of my business. People are almost always willing to help and share knowledge when you speak up and ask for help.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media has been a great benefit to my business and the expansion of it. Understanding your target audience and creating content catered to them is a top skill that benefited me. I quickly learned that most of my business and clients came from TikTok. With knowing that, I was sure to learn how to edit and jump on trends that were helpful to attracting clients to my page. I learned the importance of hashtags, post timing, and the name presented on your videos. Googling the best time to post, hashtags to use, and changing my screen name to “Taylor Made Experinces-DFW” drew in more clientele that than translated to other apps such as Instagram and Facebook. I found that people reacted positively to giveaways on Instagram. For example, I would host a giveaway for a reaching 100 or 500 followers that require people to like, comment, and share my page. With every post, I posted it on my story and started the same– like, comment, and share. It is imperative to separate your personal Instagram and business Instagram! MAKE THE BUSINESS PAGE! Consistency is the key to growing following and engagement.
My major realization when it came to social media is that no matter how many followers, friends, or family members you have– your biggest and most loyal supporters will be those you have never met and don’t know. A client will turn into a friend before friends or family will turn into a client.
