We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dijia Chen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dijia below.
Dijia, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I operate as an independent designer, and Dijia Creative embodies my brand. When choosing the brand name, I aimed to reflect my personality and the essence of my work.
The logo holds significant weight—it’s the visual identity that leaves a lasting impression. It plays a crucial role in conveying the tastefulness of the brand.
Dijia Creative’s logo draws inspiration from the phrase ‘with Dijia.’ As my follower base expands, I’ve come to realize that these individuals, whom I may not have met personally, feel more like friends. My aspiration is to share not just my designs but also snippets of my life with this growing community.
Dijia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Dijia Chen, originally from Shanghai, China, and currently pursuing a graduate degree in advertising at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I proudly operate my design studio, Dijia Creative, offering a range of services including creative advertising, social media management, and design. You can explore my work at https://www.dijiacreative.com/. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to learn more about me!
Additionally, I’m an amateur model and a film camera photographer, so don’t be surprised when you come across photos showcasing various styles and concepts :D
I believe in the diversity of strengths and thinking styles within the advertising profession. My approach is grounded in reality and globalization—prioritizing what’s best for the customer rather than simply chasing trends. At Dijia Creative, my goal is to assist individuals in discovering their ideas and helping them through the process of bringing those ideas to life.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I began with a solid foundation. I have shaped my skills in design and film and television during my undergraduate years, though I initially lacked a complete understanding of the U.S. industry. Having spent two years in this environment, my advice to design newcomers is to explore your peers’ portfolio websites on LinkedIn— a valuable source of inspiration for me. Don’t hesitate or underestimate your design abilities; you’re doing great!
Any fun sales or marketing stories?
One of the most impactful experiences I’ve encountered occurred on a critical presentation day when we had to showcase our campaign to a creative agency. The night before, we had just finished revising the entire campaign, and I hadn’t gotten a good night’s rest. On the day of the presentation, we realized we hadn’t decided on who would present. With four of us on the team, one had a cold, and another was hesitant to go. So, one team member and I quickly prepared for the presentation. Although I felt the urge to back out due to fear, my inner voice reassured me that I knew the project well and could handle it. This experience of overcoming inner cowardice and fear has been a constant inspiration for me.
