We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shanavia Evans. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shanavia below.
Shanavia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Risks are apart of everyday life. Each day I feel like I’m taking a risk because each day we have to make decisions for our future. Moving to Saint Louis was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. I moved here knowing no one, and with no source of income. I prayed a lot still do, because till this day Faith is what brought me through the trials and tribulations. But, I have no regrets for putting myself in a situation for growth. Even though we sometimes hate taking risks it’s important to do so. If we didn’t, we would never be able to see how strong we actually are. How were able to accomplish whatever we dream of.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Being an Entertainment Life Coach is not easy. But, it’s all about the joy of helping people. My passion for people goes far beyond learning a person. It’s about studying a person, getting to know why they make the decisions that they make and helping them understand why they decided to make them. That’s how She Is Golden Life Coaching started. I’ve talked to many entrepreneurs in the entertainment industry and they’ve all had the same problem “I’m stuck in my career and I don’t know what to do next, I feel like I’m not being true to myself anymore.” That’s where i step in with years of research about how I can stay self-efficient in my career and how I can continue to find different pathways to myself. I was once lost, I had no idea what to do. I am a very talented individual with multiple skill sets, but where do I stand? I can stand alone but I’m also amazing with group projects. Being able to find who you truly are is the best gift, but you have to be open. I am the light to elevation.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to learn is that giving up is not an option. I used to go into a project and only half way completed because I was scared that if I completed the project all the way through it would be terrible and unsuccessfully. What I was learned through half completing projects was that I wouldn’t know until it’s completed if it’s successful or not, and even if it wasn’t I still have the opportunity to make changes and continue to elevate the plan. There’s never one way to do something. I learned to be solution-oriented and not problem-oriented.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media is ever changing. Building my presences on social media was a challenge. But, what I did learn was if you connect with people on a deeper level than just selling a product/service. You are more liable to build a trustworthy brand. People want to connect with the reason why your brand exist not just the product or service you are selling. I started to learn people and why they are on social media. Learning that portion helped me connect with people genuinely.
