We recently connected with 7ven and have shared our conversation below.
Hi 7ven, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Wow, I love this question! I would say when I was actually nine years old. I was at this crossroad at such a young age that initiated a long life path for me. It was either music or art. Something told me to choose art. And for that first moment I was given an assignment. It went from me feeling like I didn’t know what to do, to fully embodying the project challenge presented to me.
I realize that this artistic flow that I have comes naturally, and I wanted to explore it beyond, the tip of the iceberg. And that is exactly what I did.
Art is the center universe of every creative outlet that I later took on down the line. Completely making me feel limitless whenever I choose to tap into that version of my gifts. And now having it not only as a business, but as a way to express myself. It feels beautiful to have others within the art community and society feel so connected to what I do that. That they are willing to have my art in their home or my creative direction, photography or whatever have you; as a part of their journey as well.
7ven, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello, my name is Thais but I go by 7ven. I am a multi-visionary artist specializing in Surrealism Hand Drawn Art & Painting, Photography, Creative Direction, Tarot Reading and Content Production. 7ven is a name that has come to me overtime. The core meaning connecting to a combination of Numerology and Astrology. All really pointing to the number seven. The Intuitive / Seeker of Knowledge. My offerings are all linked to self discovery & self exploration! I outwardly encourage those within the art community and society to do the same. Because I feel that when you transform self, it truly transforms your artistry. No matter what storm or confusion I may be in. I always know that I can count on Art to help me express my toughest thoughts & emotions.
Whether that is through visual artistry or actual painting & poetry. My art journey has placed me at tables I had the opportunity to showcase all of my multiple artistic hats. From Actioning Art & Selling Art for a Non Profit Organization, Designing Music Album Covers, Tattoo Sketches, shooting album cover shoots with my photography & creative direction, shooting Behind the Scenes footage for artists on their music video sets. Artistically & Creatively Directing music videos, and photoshoots. Content Producing for my YouTube channel & Instagram – Planet7ven & @level.7ven. Doing tarot readings for yoga events of 100+ people. I have worked with clients that are married, I’ve gotten booked for birthday parties & Halloween events, etc. Having Tarot under my belt for 7 years, has helped me amplify the frequency of spiritual & lifestyle growth within my own life. As well as those within the community. I mean there is so much more I haven’t even listed, and so much more I can not WAIT to take on & expand ! I am so happy that I said yes to trying something new each and every time which is why I am able to do all of the things that I am great at now. And I still feel I am learning how to master. My advice to you is just try. That’s all you can really do and if you don’t like it move onto something different but challenge yourself to like the indifferent. Because it may open a door to what really calls to you.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Easy. That I know everything. I can’t stress this enough, especially as a self taught Artist, that you truly do not know everything. Sit back & observe! Pitch in while you can, but let the teaching take place. Because there is always space for improvement! I’m currently at this point in my journey, willing to sit back and learn from another artist, regardless of their age, their platform, or even what they would consider their level of expertise. I feel like you can truly learn from absolutely everyone! I feel like moving to LA in March really taught me how to be a student again! Especially connecting and networking with creatives that have a more wider platform / audience or industry expertise or presence. I have learned so much already, and for that I am grateful because it really has taught me on my journey where to modify or even elevate small details, in order to make a larger impact. Or even where I could just be more authentically myself And allow other people to catch up. It’s all a process, something else I would say I’m unlearning is, being too overly critical on myself for being the “new kid in the block” in a sense! We all start somewhere and sometimes we have to start over in order to strengthen our structural approach to our business or craft. And sometimes it really is just about a new fresh perspective.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I really like this question. Because I feel in a world of social media presence. Sometimes it’s hard to understand the concept of individuality and originality. And sometimes if a person isn’t creative, or in the knowing of how much effort it takes to be a Creative, or a business owner, the understanding may be lost or at a lack.
In this world of copy and paste, I always dare to be different. I may do some trends that are hot, but I always try to flip it around and make it my own version. And sometimes those trends are what unfortunately but fortunately brings in traffic to your social media platform or even brand. If you are visiting my socials, website, or even taking in some type of artistic expression that I have to showcase. I always say approach with an open mind. Because I’m really not here to please. I want to be able to touch the hearts and souls of people in many ways more than one. And just because it may not be what you’re used to or what you’re comfortable with doesn’t mean that there’s something wrong with it or that it doesn’t make sense. It’s time to think outside of the box. And to understand that I don’t always follow the rules according to what other people think I should do, but instead according to what my spirit feels the most called to. And in that makes it the most authentic version in itself. And I honestly I wish the same for all artists that are brave enough to show their artistic executions with the world! I want to see who you truly are not what other people want you to be, but who you truly are!
