We recently connected with Gen Obolensky and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Gen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Yes!!!! So, my parent made me work from a veeeeeery young age. I honestly can’t recall a time I didn’t have chores or wasn’t expected to pitch in. We had to earn everything we got and through that I feel that we (me and my 2 sisters) have a strong work ethic. Even if we didn’t feel well. Through those experiences I know how to dig deep and push through uncomfortableness. Like we have this a big bandwidth than a lot of my peers because we had to performs through headaches, cramps, tiredness, colds – what have you.
Gen, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I own the first day spa in Clearwater – Botanica Day Spa. We help people realize the importance of visiting a spa and that it’s not just for splurging, but that going on a regular basis is both healthy for your mind and body wellness.
The services we over are – massage, facials, nails, lashes and brow services, waxing and body treatments.
I’m proud to have been in business 30 year as of 2024.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Actually caring!! Sometimes I think I care a little too much but overall I’m rooting for all my clients and want them to succeed in their goals.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The E Myth book. Before that book, I felt like I had to do EVERYTHING. Through that book I realized it’s a total absolute gift to give others jobs within your organization. I highly recommend this book.
