We recently connected with Brittany Holland-Banks and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany , appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful I believe you have to have accountability, thick skin, will power, a positive attitude, and be open minded. A lot of businesses/ entrepreneurs fail because they have no accountability. Rather it be in the way they handled their brand, customer service, legalities, or marketing. It’s everyone else’s fault besides theirs and that’s not always the case. Sometimes we have to step back and see where we went wrong and how we can fix it. My Aunt would always tell me “write your plan and work your plan”. I’ve been living by this since I was 15 years old. If something doesn’t workout, take a step back. Look at where you could improve and change something’s and work it. That’s where having thick skin comes into place. People are not always going to like you, your business, or service. Take the criticism for what it is and see where you could do better. Even if it wasn’t your fault, think about how you reacted to the criticism. Which leads me into positive attitude and will power. Some people are just disrespectful and rude. We have to realize that, and fighting fire with fire doesn’t help. Especially while in business, because regardless of how disrespectful that customer may have been it still falls on you on how you react. Kill them with kindness. Being kind in the situation and you never know it may make them apologize for being so mean in the first place. Also others will see how you handled it and you will gain more respect that way. So have the will power to stay professional at all times! Last but not least, just be open minded, everything isn’t perfect never will be perfect, God didn’t intend on life being that way. Learn from your imperfections and just be happy that you’re even in the position to do what it is you do.

Brittany , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started Honey Rush because I’ve always been complimented on how well my skin looks. One day I asked my boyfriend at the time what does he think about me starting a business for skin care and he thought it was a great idea. Talked it over with some friends and I came up with Honey Rush. The name came from honey being the base of all of the products I use on my skin and rush came from how fast you see the results. So viola there you have it lol.
What sets me apart from other brands from what I’ve seen so far is that I’m actually a walking billboard for my brand. I also I have no problem breaking down each product explaining why it was chosen to be in that specific product and what it does for your skin. I don’t use a bunch of chemicals either. I also think outside of the box. I.E my pink body scrub is made from pink Himalayan salt instead of the basic sugar. I choose that because it removes dead skin cells, allowing your skin to breathe and regenerate effectively.
I’m most proud God giving me the will to do this and stay positive throughout. It’s definitely not easy, some days you make $3,000 in a day and some days you might only get 3 viewers who went to the site. I have stopped and relaunched to revamp somethings and I appreciate and love the HONEY HIVE who has stayed down for it all. They are the best! Stay supportive through it all. My friends and family too! The ones that do support, thank you for the endless shares, likes, comments, answering my questions and keeping me motivated.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Something I had to unlearn is that you can do everything by yourself. It’s okay to ask for help when you’re starting out. It’s okay to get advice, have someone pack your orders with you, hire a graphic designer (if you have the funds), etc. DELEGATE! Make that your word for 2024 if you haven’t already. I had to learn that, and I’m still struggling a little bit with it because of course your business is your baby! Your pride and joy, but what I learned once you give task to other people you can focus on the more important things and you won’t be as stressed. Once I learned that it’s okay to have a team, my life as being an entrepreneur has been way better!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
How I built my social awareness online was before “live” and “groups” became super popular. During covid I seen that people were either going live more or creating more groups. So I would do “self care Sundays with B” explaining my products on live and using them. All while answering the questions people had. Joining groups I was able to market more and also do group giveaways which I was able to promote to other businesses customers. So it was a win win! Built other business relationships and also gained new customers.
