We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jenn Campbell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jenn, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
Yes, I manage my own social media accounts. Cardscape Greetings is a local yard greeting rental service company so I do not need to have a far reach. I do get many people in the area that see my posts and book because they found me on social media. You definitely need to post often, if not daily, to make sure you have the most engagement and reach.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Since I was little, I have always been an entrepreneur at heart. I always knew I wanted to have my own business. My husband and I often look at what businesses are for sale or what business idea we can come up with next. We came across another local Toledo area business, Partydreams Toledo, selling their yard greeting inventory as they are growing with their wedding rentals.
I have always been creative, so helping people celebrate their special occasions by designing a unique yard greeting based on their hobbies & interests was perfect! Cardscape Greetings helps people show their loved ones in a big way by expressing how much they care about and love them and displaying it in their yard for a 24 hour rental period for all to see.
I am most proud of people choosing me and my business to be a part of helping them celebrate their loved ones and making their day. Cardscape Greetings makes is easy and hassle free.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Starting a business social media page from scratch can be overwhelming, but once you get the first few posts done it’s not so bad. I started off by making a post to introduce myself, explain what my company offers and what areas I service, of course adding hash tags and locations to the post so that more people could find me. I also went through my personal friends list and added everyone to my business pages so that I could get more engagement that way. I started getting bookings immediately and from there it just took off.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The power of social media and word of mouth! Posting content often and sharing in multiple local groups on Facebook is a great way to reach more people. The best thing about my service is that it’s visual for everyone to see! If a neighbor or passer by sees a yard greeting in my clients’ yard, they will see that it was from Cardscape Greetings. I always do a thank you follow up for each and every client after their yard greeting rental has been picked up and ask if they would leave me a review. I want to make sure they were happy with my service and that I always meet or exceed their expectations. Leaving positive reviews, especially for small businesses, helps others know what to expect and help make their decision to book easier!
