Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to N’Kia Williams . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
N’Kia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I’ve always had a passion for drawing and painting every since I was younger! I also had an older brother whom loved to draw. He passed away in 2005 from cancer at the age of 17. Though I knew drawing would never be the same for me, his death also gave me that push I needed to keep going in his honor! Anything that someone else was doing, I wanted to try it. From there I started using my own creative thoughts and coming up with ideas that nobody else was doing!

N’Kia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is N’Kia Williams! I am in the nursing field, I’m a part time hairstylist, and I also am a small business owner! Rayshun was the name of my brother whom passed away. That’s how I can up with my unique business name “Epik KreaShun.” I provide services for people near and far. I ship so no matter the distance, if there’s something that a customer wants done, I’m at their service!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective way of growing my clientele is through my social media accounts and word of mouth. Social media plays a huge factor in many successful businesses! The key to finding the right customers is staying consistent no matter how many sales you make within a certain time frame!
i always ensure that my content and profile are consistent across all of my social media channels. Also, I love to Interact with my customers (present and future). Be active on your pages but don’t overdo it. Use a posting schedule to avoid overloading Ensure that your content and profile are consistent across all social media channels. Interact with clients. Be active on your pages but don’t overdo it. Try using a posting schedule to avoid overloading your clients with too much information (it can be a but overwhelming for both parties)!

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I was an active seller on Etsy for a year or so! I learned that it just wasn’t for me! There are tons of people on the platform selling the exact same thing as you are! Even though it isn’t you, sometimes you think “oh, well they don’t need anyone else selling this item. It’s enough of that on here.” I find that having a personal website/domain was much better for me. That way my customers could come directly to the source!
