We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Henderson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

Brandon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I like to describe myself as a Multi-Hyphenate Artist. Of Afro-Native descent, my foundational origins are in large part credited to North Carolina & the richness of the east coast. A Writer/Director first, & Actor secondary — the nature of my creative experiences are very similar to that of a renaissance man’s journey.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Representation matters. Early on, I thought you as an artist or your work would be enough to penetrate the seams of the industry. But as time went on, I began to discover how Agency Representation or Management separates the field for creatives. Most of the time, you’re not even in the room to voice an opinion or show your talent when lacking it. I highly encourage both individuals who create (Producers, Directors, & Writers) or perform (Actors, Musicians) to seek out what’s necessary to acquire representation in some form to push their journeys forward.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative, for me — is the pure accomplishment of making it all happen. The career of entertainment is somewhat of an unrealistic lifestyle. The security & sureness of opportunity are somewhat absent in the grand scheme. For one to truly make themselves out to be Spike Lee, or Martin Scorsese, or Michael B. Jordan — one must, first & foremost, truly have a loving passion for what they do & put themselves in an energy chamber that splits between the dynamics of faith, prowess, & a touch of chance to truly carve out a successful career in the lights.
