We recently connected with Matthew Schmid and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Matthew thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to create my own independent family-friendly feature films for everyone to enjoy, as well as for me to act in. The reason why this mission is meaningful for me is because I have a passion for acting and filmmaking, and I feel like by creating my own film projects, I could do both things at once.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Matthew Schmid, and I’m an aspiring filmmaker and actor based in Suwanee, Georgia. I like to write my own feature films that I hope to bring to life, as well as direct and act in.
Filmmaking wise, I first started writing my own movies when I was around 11 or 12, and when I was 19, I brought to life my own feature film called Young Agents, which I wrote, produced, directed, edited, and starred in. Young Agents can be found on YouTube under Matthew Schmid Pictures. I’m currently in the filming process for the sequel to Young Agents, and I’m hoping for it to be released at some point in 2024.
Acting wise, I started taking acting classes when I was about 12 at All Stars Performing Arts Academy after I was approached by one of the acting teachers there. Ever since I graduated high school, I’ve been doing a lot of background work in various productions, such as Black Lightning, Cobra Kai, Daphne & Velma, Blue Beetle, and many more. To easily get experience in real acting, I gave myself the leading role in my film, Young Agents, and am reprising that role in the upcoming sequel.
What I feel sets me apart from others is that most filmmakers start out their careers by making short films while I started out my career by making feature films. Personally, I prefer making feature films over short films because I feel features are more fun.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal in my creative journey is to create my own family-friendly feature films for people of all ages to enjoy. All of my films are meant to be comedies, and most of my films are also meant to be action films with really amazing fight sequences.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for me is to be able to bring my ideas to life however I can and to share them with the world.
