We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emily Barnes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emily below.
Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Our goal is to create an annual event to showcase local Antiques + Vintage, Boutiques and Artisans that focuses on community and collaboration.
We have been collaborating with area small business and want to create a unique shopping experience to shop small and shop local.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Antiques & Boutique Market was created by Emily Barnes a small business owner since 2021.
I have been dreaming up this market and collaborating within local community for this Annual Event.
My husband and I grew up in the community, and all our childhood memories are surrounded by attending festivals, markets, and community events. I believe the key to our community starts by shopping small.
From many years of attending shows as a guest, from traveling to them or setting up as a vendor I saw the importance of providing an event. The most important factor when creating my own event surrounded my love for history, hosting the event in Marietta has opened up so many doors for awesome collaboration to make this a unique event.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
In 2017, I hosted a local community nonprofit drive for a Global Nonprofit, Comfort Cases to raise funds and donations for area children in foster care. Since hosting that event, I have settled in my career but still actively a part of my community in my free time by running a small business and supporting other small business and area nonprofits. It has taken 5 years to finally reach my goal to plan a community event that encompasses all that is important to me within our local community, Antiques & Boutiques Market will do just that with 100+ small business, collaboration with area sponsors, donation drive for local nonprofits and unique curated shopping experience.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Antiques & Boutiques Market will be set up to be an annual event. Hand selecting the venue for this event we had a lot to consider, but as soon as we toured The Barn at White Pine Acres and met the owners, we knew we wanted to host our community market here. Just a short drive from in town Marietta provides a charming countryside setting with both indoor shopping and outdoor shopping. We will have 100+ curated vendors, live demonstrations, DIY Maker workshops, and a Barn Concert. The evening before the barn will be lit up for evening live music and we are collaborating with Ivory & Rust to host an adult sip and shop where you have access to shop firsthand unique rust, dust, and new. The day where you have early access to shop unique rust, dust, and new..
Selecting this venue has also provided the upscale market setting which in result has gained interested with potential vendors. The vendors that are selected will be the top unique artisans, boutique owners and antique in their own categories.
We are proud to collaborate with local small business and we want to invite all in our community to enjoy our market.
