We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dominique Kramer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dominique, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
The event industry is ever-changing. Events today look vastly different from events 10 or 20 years ago. When we work an event we hear the parents or grandparents in awe – simply because clients today are choosing to do things that were genuinely not thought of before.
We find it extremely exciting to be curating events today. Clients and couples are looking to add something unique; something that elicits a reaction from their guests. We are seeing out of the box elements like live painting, live music or interactive seating charts that require guests to participate in some way. We are also seeing bolder colors and more fun “themes”. We even see a push for more live, human performance ranging from music or magic to tarot or transformed “inanimate” objects.
To our clients – we are always trying to push the envelope in some way. Our motto is “modern events for the untraditional” and we absolutely mean that. We work with every client to try and twist the traditional wedding or event element to make it something that can’t be found on a Pinterest board.
We are enthralled with the growth of this industry and cannot wait to keep pushing it in bigger and bolder directions.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We are Dom and Lieng of Luna and Sol Event Design. We met through a job and instantly became friends. We think so much alike- oftentimes we look at one another and can see that our brains are going in the same exact direction.
We met up in December 2022 to conceive Luna and Sol. Luna and Sol has been a dream for the two of us for as long as we can remember – event design is our passion! It quickly became apparent that we found our calling and it has been a joy ride ever since.
We are so proud of where we have gone in just this one short year. We emphasize our vision in every single thing we do. We curated our brand so specifically to ensure that whenever someone sees our work they will know immediately that we did it. Our passion is fueled by the desire to push boundaries and bring something to our clients that they haven’t seen before.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Our branding and client facing is the single most important aspect of our business. We spent months curating our branding package to ensure everything looked and felt luxury (or at least on par with that). From business cards to letterheads, everything is cohesive across the board. Ensuring that your brand speaks to what you want to accomplish is key. The biggest thing to remember is your target audience. What do they want to see when they look for a company like yours? And how can you make your business look better than the competition, including those that have been around for years?

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We streamline our communication through various programs and apps. First of all – the Google Suite. Every app and program they have is free to use and seamlessly works across all media. Next, we use HoneyBook to track our client payments and contracts.
Overall, we look for programs and apps that are user friendly for us and for clients and they must have a modern look and feel.
For website we used Square Space – they make it so incredibly easy to customize your site.
