We recently connected with Hannah Pohlmeyer and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Back in 2020 when the pandemic first began, I started baking at home like crazy! Eventually, it was more than just what my family and I could eat, so I started selling my baked goods. My grandma had made me an apron to bake in that said “Life is Sweet” so that’s what I began going by to sell my treats. Fast forward to the end of 2020, I decided to turn my love for photography into more than just a hobby. As I started to get booked by people outside of my friends and family, I knew I needed a good business name. I had loved the name Life is Sweet for my short lived baking business, but decided it was also fitting for photography! I strive to capture real life moments and to truly showcase the important moments in people’s lives, the moments that make life sweet! So in December of 2020, Life is Sweet Photography was officially born.

Hannah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Hannah and I am the owner and head photographer behind Life is Sweet Photography. I provide lifestyle, portrait, wedding, and concert photography all across the state of Arizona. Photography has always been a passion of mine and something I’ve enjoyed as a hobby from a young age. As I got older, I realized how much I loved capturing people and decided to turn my passion into a business to be able to capture special moments for people. Life is Sweet Photography began in December of 2020, a time when people were trying to find a new normal amongst the hard times our world was facing. Despite the pandemic, there were still sweet moments to celebrate such as graduations, weddings, adoptions, and so much more! I was able to find ways to safely capture these special times for people and create lasting memories. Over the past 3 years I have grown Life is Sweet Photography into something I deeply treasure and am very proud of. I love learning everyday and meeting so many incredible people through my business! To me, there is nothing more special than capturing those little moments that do, in fact, make life so very sweet!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Personally, providing the best customer service I can along with giving products to clients above and beyond their expectations has been my most effective strategy for growing clientele as it has provided me word of mouth and repeat business! I absolutely love when I go to a post looking for a photographer on social media and before I share my information myself, past clients of mine have already done so. I love getting to know clients like they’re friends, which in turn helps me best know how to capture them during our session and hopefully leaves them feeling treated well!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Besides word of mouth from past clients, social media has been an exceptional resource for getting new clients. Between marketing through my own social media pages, responding to posts looking for a photographer, and being able to safely chat with potential clients, I have gained a lot of new clients through social media!
