We were lucky to catch up with Yasmine Verberckt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Yasmine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
I am so blessed to get to be a part of so many stories that fill your heart and mind with goodness. Reminders of how resilient human beings are and how there are always options and solutions. We just have to find them. It may at times take a while and it’s not always an easy ride and yet once you find it…
A story that is very special to me is from a young male client and his journey to getting his life back. I received a phone call several years ago from a woman who was desperate. She had received my phone number from a friend who’s daughter overcame trichotillomania in my office. Her voice at times cracking because of grief as she explains the situation.
The woman went to share how her son had been in the hospital several times due to excessive daily drinking. He is not working anymore. Spending his money on alcohol. His body was beginning to show severe signs of not being able to keep up with the habit anymore. Hospital staff had given increasingly severe warnings about the future repercussions if his ways wouldn’t be changed. He was drinking himself to the grave in his early 20’s.
After speaking with mom for a while, I agreed to take on the case and saw the young man in my office for his first appointment. He too was ready to find a solution and change his ways but he didn’t how he could get it done. He was very scared he would die at a young age. As I was conducting the initial session with him, mom was anxiously sitting in the waiting room clutching on to remnants of hope, moving through the emotional scale of despair and belief.
It was clear this was a dire and urgent situation. We went through the motions of hypnotherapy including keeping the conversations very real whilst holding space for compassion and holding a clear aim. The hard truth must be kept in mind. It took several sessions of course and there were times where the young man came in hungover reeking of alcohol, barely being able to sit in a chair. I offered him some tough love along the way and a few months later we crossed the finish line.
Initially it started with little things, bringing in better habits as we chip away at the big problem at the same time. He started cooking for himself, removing toxic people that were dragging him back into the problem time and time again. He started working again. He started believing that he can actually overcome this and live his life fully. He now had coping tools and strategy and help as we rewired his brain using hypnosis to facilitate it.
We are now several years later and recently I received a phone call from him out of the blue. He was proud to share that he is back in school. Sober for multiple years and back on track to becoming a school teacher. The invitation to his graduation underscored the significance of the moment, a testament to the transformative power of choice and the unwavering support of a loving mother. It was and is indeed a very special moment and I cherish it dearly.
The sense of pride extends beyond the individual triumph to the legacy of being a harbinger of positive change in the face of adversity. In this narrative, a mother’s love emerged as a potent force, saving a life and fostering an inspiring journey of recovery. This tale serves as a poignant reminder of the inherent beauty in life, urging us to acknowledge and appreciate this fact every day.

Yasmine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Becoming a hypnotherapist isn’t something that’s on anyone’s mind when asked as a child “What would you like to do when you grow up?” It is a calling that finds you along the way and that certainly was no different for me. I had the advantage of having been hypnotized at the age of 5 and my father quit smoking that same day using hypnosis. The hypnotherapist my parents took me to, taught me a few things. From that moment, the subtle influence of hypnotherapy became a constant go to in my life—a tool in my toolbox, aiding me in overcoming obstacles and achieving personal goals. Recognizing the potency of my own mind, I intuitively understood the profound impact it could have.
Life, however, presented its share of challenges, including a battle with PTSD and two significant health scares within a six-month span. The wake-up call came after a breast cancer scare (it wasn’t but I didn’t know it for a while) followed by a bout of shingles, with doctors urging me to lower stress levels. Reflecting on my life, I decided it was time for a change.
With a background predominantly rooted in the luxury hotel industry worldwide, a pivotal moment led me to reevaluate my priorities. Hypnosis emerged as the answer, I decided to enroll in an accredited college of hypnotherapy. Formal training combined with a lifetime of experience positioned me as an expert to unlock the untapped potential of the mind.
Over a decade into my private practice, the fulfillment derived from assisting individuals on their transformative journeys is immeasurable. It is indeed my legacy.
There are people with a VERY wide range of presenting issues that step into my office. The most prevalent ones being anxiety, depression and insomnia. It is certainly not limited to it. ADHD, all sorts of trauma, fears and phobias, relationships or the lack of them, setting boundaries, quit smoking, patience, anger, shame, guilt, negative habits, TMJ, and quite frankly I could probably fill an entire book just making a list of a myriad of subjects.
The conclusion is: if it is automatic, it is subconscious and hypnosis is more than very likely to be effective.
My commitment extends beyond achieving results; it encompasses the knowledge and understanding of the intricate workings of the mind. The ability to articulate the cause, strategy, and rationale behind the process is integral to its efficacy. Passion propels me forward, and each day is dedicated to staying abreast of the latest neuroscientific developments for the betterment of my clients. This relentless pursuit of knowledge is the essence of what distinguishes me in the field.
In a landscape where new modalities gain acceptance, my training extends to Reiki and the safe therapeutic use of entheogens. Positioned on the frontlines of evolving clinical studies and legislation, I remain at the forefront of innovative therapeutic practices.
“Knowledge is power” echoes through my practice, encapsulating the essence of what clients can expect. Before stepping into my office or engaging through virtual sessions, individuals should know that I am committed, honest, knowledgeable, efficient, experienced, transparent, and kind. In essence, I bring not only expertise but also a genuine passion for facilitating transformative change—a commitment that defines my journey as a clinician and practitioner.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Having faced a profoundly traumatic event during my early years, it molded my brain, elevating cortisol levels significantly, which, in turn, cast a pervasive impact on every facet of my daily life. I learned early on that the world is not safe. This lead to disrupted sleep and anxiety to recurrent flashbacks, the commonly used term for this condition is PTSD.
This ordeal meant navigating through life with an indescribable weight tethered to my ankle and on my shoulders. Everything was more arduous and challenging. Each day required a conscious decision to muster the strength anew. The world seemed ominous, plagued by intrusive thoughts that became ingrained in my identity. This journey demanded a resilience surpassing ordinary standards, and it was undeniably exhausting— a sentiment familiar to many who have experienced similar trials.
However, this adversity also became the catalyst for seeking answers and solutions. Despite encountering numerous therapists who just fell short, I embarked on the path of self-healing. I had to decipher my own puzzle and translate my findings into action, hoping to reap the rewards of my efforts and emerge on the other side of the struggle. Throughout, I clung to the belief that healing is possible— a realization emphasizing the imperative role of hope at all times. One can never ever give up hope. Giving up hope is giving up on yourself. They are intricately intertwined.
I’m elated to share that I persevered. Along the way, I gained profound insight and empathy. Human resilience proved to be nothing short of magical, despite the moments when it felt otherwise. I stand as living proof that what is hard can transition to difficult, then to manageable, and ultimately to joyful. The journey revealed the abundance of good people surrounding us. Success and happiness, I discovered, are attainable even when the cards are stacked against you. Even when it was not your fault.
I’ve always held the utmost admiration and deepest respect for those who, in the face of adversity, choose kindness each day. To me, that embodies true strength and resilience. It’s awe-inspiring to witness individuals who remain brave despite feeling the world is against them. I stand in awe of those persistently seeking relief, knocking on the door of yet another practitioner. It is a part of my drive every single day. I genuinely understand those who step into my practice hoping for change.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The bedrock of my success as a clinician has undeniably been the tangible results achieved for my clients. Their well-being remains the focal point of my professional journey.
What sets me apart is a conscious decision I made early on—to embody the qualities I struggled to find in others while seeking solutions for myself. I recognized the necessity for professionals who adhere to traditional business values: genuine care, unwavering passion to excel, continuous knowledge acquisition, unswerving honesty, and transparency. It’s about possessing an in-depth understanding of every facet of the field, coupled with a resolute commitment to assisting others in the most productive, kind, and healthy manner possible.
Having faced challenges in finding such a professional in my own quest, I resolved to be that person in my own practice. This commitment has become my daily reminder, essentially serving as my mission statement.
What’s particularly noteworthy is that clients often express their appreciation using words reflective of that very decision. Their feedback reinforces my dedication to authenticity, reminding me of the larger societal need for the genuine and compassionate approach I strive to provide. This, in essence, forms the core of my reputation.
