We caught up with the brilliant and insightful CoRa’e Smith a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
CoRa’e , appreciate you joining us today. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
I make it a point to take a vacation(s) a few times out of the year with my family and friends. Being that I am in the service industry and work in my salon alone I have to close down during my time off. But I make sure I have my clients taken care prior to leaving so they don’t get to far off schedule. As a business owner the key is to always plan ahead and let your clients and staff if you have any know in a timely manner.

CoRa’e , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is CoRa’e Smith owner and operator of Rae’L Beauty (Rae’L Hair Studio) I offer luxury Hair and Lash service to the everyday woman who enjoys a good self-care day. I started in the Beauty Industry a the age of 18, but I grew up in the industry i’ve been in the salon since I was a little girl. My family is full of entrepreneurs so it was only right that I’d become one as well. I opened my salon suite in 2014 trial and error over the years I am in the right space now and cant wait to see what the future holds. Coming soon at the end of this year we will be launching a Hair care line. Our line will continue to promote healthy hair has that is what we stand by with all of our services. It has been a long awaited work in progress. I started creating these products back in 2020 through many trial products I have finally created the perfect mix. Also coming Spring/Summer 2024 we will have Lash Care Products as well. The beauty industry is very unpredictable at times but I love it I love making women and girls feel beautiful and give them a boost of confidence they need or to even be just a listening ear and deciding factor in some situations.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Outside of the traditional word of mouth. I’ve used Groupon as a great source to help grow my business as well as Google. I always ask my existing clients to leave a review for the salon to help drive business.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Running Facebook ADs helps a ton you’re able to select your target market.
