We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gloria Holloway. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gloria below.
Gloria , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
My experience being an artist has been more of a journey. I’ve learned so many things from signing contracts to actually creating. I honestly wish I had started sooner but I’m enjoying every step and wouldn’t change a thing.

Gloria , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My whole life I had worked for other people. I always felt that I was missing something so I started creating art with resin. Eventually people started buying my work and it boosted my self confidence enough to quit my job and pursue it full time. So I did, and I taught how to do it on Patreon. After months of this I decided to close my shop to move in a different direction. I taught myself the basics on how to sew and started creating cosplays.
This year I entered my first cosplay contest as Toph Beifong. I loved competing so much, I entered several other pieces over the next few months and eventually won my first award.
Social media has always been a big part of my creating. I enjoy posting updates of my life and projects. I honestly think that no matter what creative direction I take I will always be around to share it with my community.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think social media can play in an artists success. I’ve seen small businesses go viral and become financially stable over night. Sharing, “liking”, and commenting really boosts the artists content!

How did you build your audience on social media?
I build all my platforms the same way. I post consistently. It doesn’t have to be daily but showing that you’re there is important.
I make friends and collaborate with others. People in the same niche as you are not competition. Collaborating with others is a great way to showcase two artists to two different audiences.
When I have the opportunity, I run paid ads on my posts to promote it to others who might be interested.
Lastly, I stay genuine. I make authentic content by staying true to myself.
