Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Powell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittany, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?
My journey into the world of cosmetology began unexpectedly in 2015, marked by personal loss and a shift in perspective. Despite my initial career path as an English teacher, life’s challenges led me to embrace my passion for hairstyling, a skill I had nurtured since middle school.
In the face of skepticism about the financial viability of a cosmetology career, I ventured forth and discovered a world beyond expectations. As a licensed cosmetologist, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to diverse projects, from TV and magazines to weddings and fashion shows. Creativity became my currency, and I found joy in inspiring others through my work.
What sets my cosmetology career apart is the freedom it affords me. I set my own rules, dictate my pace, and cherish the flexibility to prioritize family. While entrepreneurship presents its challenges, the rewards of autonomy and fulfillment outweigh any difficulties. Looking back, I wouldn’t trade this unique journey for a more conventional path.
Reflecting on my journey, I can’t help but think that if anything, I would have started my cosmetology career even earlier. Embracing my true self and creative passion has been the key to my success. In school, the narrative often centered around traditional career paths, failing to prepare us for the dynamic world we face today. It’s where the disconnect with millennials occurred.
Contrary to the conventional wisdom, the cosmetology field has proven to be a thriving space. Many cosmetologists, including myself, lead fulfilling lives, some earn more than many doctors and lawyers. In a world where passion and determination can pave the way to success, I’ve learned that breaking away from the expected can lead to unparalleled opportunities.
Best,
Brittany Powell

Bee Lee the stylist is a creative soul with a passion for healthy hair. While the allure of vivid colors, trendy styles, and transformative cuts captivates me, my commitment is unwavering when it comes to preserving the health of your hair.
As a “Healthy Hairstylist,” I specialize in navigating challenging situations—whether you’ve faced hair loss, scalp issues, or the aftermath of a significant life event. My expertise extends to braids, weaves, natural styles, cuts, and colors. Yet, above all, the well-being of your hair takes precedence.
One of my proudest achievements is the creation of an amazing growth hair oil. Years of study and testing have culminated in a natural elixir that has empowered countless women, men, and children to regrow hair or retain length. No fillers—just pure, natural ingredients.
What brings me the most joy is witnessing the restoration of confidence in my clients. Whether it’s the spark returning to a client’s eye as they witness their real hair growing or the glow of a bride on her wedding day, I cherish the moments when my clients feel like superstars. To me, every day women are my celebrities, and the ability to instill confidence through my services is my greatest reward.
Join me, and let’s embark on a journey where vibrant, stylish hair coexists harmoniously with health.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lost art of customer service!
In the world of hairstyling, I believe in reviving the lost art of customer service. Beyond just styling hair, I am dedicated to crafting an experience for each client. Whether it’s restoring confidence, offering personalized consultations, or creating a space where every visit is memorable, my commitment extends beyond the chair. I don’t just sell a service; I sell an experience—a moment where you leave not just looking great but feeling exceptional.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
In my journey as a hairstylist, I’ve found that social media serves not just as a platform for showcasing hairstyles but as a window into my well-rounded life. By sharing not only my professional work but also glimpses of my family, beliefs, and personal experiences, I’ve discovered a meaningful connection with my audience. It’s not just about the hairstyles; it’s about sharing a part of who I am. This authenticity has proven to be a magnet for building connections and gaining a clientele that values the person behind the chair as much as the skills within it.
