We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alete’ Dotson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alete’ below.
Alete’, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
I manage my own account. Have I tried hiring help? Yes I’ve hired a SMM from Instagram and tried one from Fiverr. They both were not a good fit. Like many other business owners I wanted to focus on scaling my business by trusting in someone else to manage my account. The lessons I learned very quickly are how to vet the right person to manage your account, what that consist of, etc. This is one of the main reasons I created the Outsouce Like a. CEO guide to help other entrepreneurs understand how they can properly hire the right social media team for their business..

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
With a proven track record of elevating female coaches, consultants, and service providers to success, I, Alete’, am the founder of a dynamic social media management agency. My clients have achieved remarkable feats, including CBS features and substantial revenue gains, all through my organic marketing strategies. As a first-generation entrepreneur, I transformed from a Social Media Manager to the proud owner of Media Mayhem 247 in just two years. Specializing in empowering women CEOs, we craft personalized and profitable social media and email marketing campaigns to establish authority and impact in their respective industries. At Media Mayhem 247, we thrive on navigating and adapting to the ever-evolving landscape of social media marketing, ensuring our clients not only survive but thrive by expanding their reach, generating leads, enhancing brand awareness, and optimizing conversion rates.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My unwavering approach to not follow trends but to use them to my advantage to connect with my community and optimize my brand awareness. I leaned in on my truths and unpopular opinions, while building strong genuine relationships with my peers and industry leaders.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I actually transform my personal page into a business page back in 2017, and were diligently to transform my community from personal friends and family to business partners, my target audience, and other like-minded businesses. It wasn’t an easy process, but it was doable and has been very rewarding for me. My advice to anybody looking to grow their social media presents in the year of 2024 is simple. Per market research on the platform you’re looking to be on, as well as in your industry, find loop holes, and find where you can stand out. I identify who you are from the beginning, and stay true in that. Yes, there will be moments or you will change or grow, but remember to never lose your voice, the side of your mission, and never loose site of your why. No, yes some of this may seem like it has nothing to do with social media, but contrary to what you think it does.
