We recently connected with Lindsey Grantham and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsey , appreciate you joining us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
When I first decided to venture out and start my photography business, I was working full time in customer service. I had saved as much as I could to buy my own camera but came up a little short.
I have a close family friend who has stayed by my side, and encouraged me to follow my dreams; named Jennifer. She knew what I had been wanting to do, and told me she’d help cover the rest. Though to my surprise, she ended up covering the entire cost of the camera. It’s to this day, one of the most selfless things anyone has ever done for me.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Lindsey Grantham and I’m a 26 year old, photographer that resides in Mount Dora, FL!
Photography has been my passion for quite some time. I’ve always found myself to be unique and wanted to be able to express that through my craft.
I love being able to capture precious memories for people and add my vintage twist to things. I’ve always had a love for vintage stuff, and I try to incorporate that into my photography. Whether it be grainy-film style editing or unique antique props. I also enjoy being able to highlight vibrant colors and use creative lighting when I can- as the artsy, conceptual style photography is what I truly love.
Though speaking of vintage, I’ve also just recently started a vintage business of my own, called “Ragged But Rad Vintage”! It’s taken me years of working in a corporate customer service work environment to finally branch out- and pursue the things I truly love. Though it might be a little tougher at times and not as consistent, it’s much more rewarding to be doing what your heart truly wants.
I’m a strong believer that everyone should follow their dreams and take the risk to make themselves happy. We only have one life; why not?
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Knowing that I’m capturing special moments for people so they can cherish them forever. It’s an amazing feeling to see someone blown away by a simple photo. We as photographers, are there to capture things you might miss or not see yourself. Between capturing special moments for others, and highlighting someone’s best angles to show them how truly beautiful they are- these have got to be the most rewarding.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My main goal has mainly been to get more into boudoir photography and help women feel empowered and see themselves the way I do- BEAUTIFUL! Everyone deserves to feel good about themselves and I want to be able to show them how amazing they truly are.
