Star, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I am a balloon artist and event designer. I’ve always been a creative person. However, I started taking my business serious when I got married about 7 years ago. I loved planning and designing my wedding so much I decided to invest in my craft as a designer. Each year I improved my craft and skill by doing more events. I watch tutorials from other balloon artists and event designers. I practice and try to come up with innovative designs from doing my own parties and hosting my own events. As a designer I’m always trying new things and testing out new techniques. I eat , sleep and breathe my craft. Even in my dreams I think about my business. I love what I do so much that with each event I treat it as if it’s my own event.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into my industry of work being an event designer by planning and decorating my own wedding. I loved it so much that I wanted to decorate for more events so I started off by doing events for family and friends. Then from there my business started to grow by word of mouth. In regard to being a balloon artist I got into that industry of work by doing a balloon garland for my daughter’s second birthday.
The type of services I offer is balloon garlands of different sizes, balloon arch installations, centerpieces, event design packages for small-medium size events, tea parties, picnics and Photoshoot services.
What sets me apart from other businesses is my flexibility, creativity and affordability. Most event designers and balloon artists are more expensive than me but my goal is to allow anyone to have a party of their dreams without breaking the bank. I feel anyone should be able to celebrate themselves without breaking the bank. I’m also very accommodating and flexible with all of my clients. I make sure everyone I work with walks away happy.
I’m most happy with my success rate of events I’ve done this year and meeting my sales goal.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is brining my clients vision to life. From the planning, organizing stage to bringing the vision to life. Seeing my clients happy and grateful for what I’m able to do for them truly makes my soul happy.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I show resilience in my business everyday. I’m a wife, mother and I work full time. So no matter how tired I am or what I have going on in my life I make sure no matter what I get what needs to be done for my business. I don’t make excuses. I don’t procrastinate. I just get it done. I set alarms for myself and give myself a certain timeframe to knock out tasks I need to get done throughout the day.
