We were lucky to catch up with Pearl Sledge recently and have shared our conversation below.

Pearl, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

In starting my makeup career I received completion certificate in July of 2015. This was challenging season of my life because just before making a decision to push my makeup business, I just lost my job for almost 10yrs and step mom passed away. I was devastated and was in horrible space in my mind. I felt like I didn’t know what to do. So I had to make a strong decision because I was single mom raising two beautiful young daughters. I remember crying with heavy tears and emotions saying “ lord please help me I need to figure this out. I got my certificate what’s next. So I began my journey through all of my pain and hurt I began to push myself into purpose. I knew I was called to do this

Pearl, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am resilient.

In 2008 & 2010 losing parents, failed marriage, lost my job, home and car. My life was taking major turn. I didn’t feel like pushing myself to fulfill my purpose. I suffer depression, anxiety and no will power!! Till, I had to understand I have two beautiful little girls. I didn’t want them suffering because of my life journey. I took charge started my makeup business in 2015 and took courage to go move forward in the salon in 2017 my biggest jump but I DID IT!!!! I never looked back!!! Throughout my life journey I kept going!!! No matter what look you’re going for, I can do it all. I offer a variety of services to enhance your natural beauty. These include makeup for Photoshoot Make-up, Bridal Make-up, and Fashion Make-up, but the possibilities are endless. With so many years of experience, I have faced all kinds of requests, and am flexible and creative enough to make your imagination come to life. What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Word of mouth and my website being published. My clients love my work so they always referring me to so many other clients. It’s one of my best tools besides marketing strategy’s.

Have you ever had to pivot?

When I lost my parents two years apart from each other. Amos, losing my marriage, house, and job!! Life was tough but throughout my pain I found composer in my passion of makeup. Glamming clients and seeing their needs help me. Unfortunately, I lost a lot but I was able to fulfill my purpose.
