We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jesus Lloveras a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jesus, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I have always been interested in the performing arts, but it wasn’t until I was 18 years old and I moved from Barcelona to Sydney, Australia that I really give it a try. I was accepted to the National Institute of Dramatic Arts and that experience changed my path forever. I knew that THAT was what I was supposed to do. I had studied maths, chemistry and physics at school but I changed my plans to become and engineer to become an actor and filmmaker.

Jesus, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I decided to change my path of becoming an engineer to become an actor/filmmaker it came a bit as a shock to my family. Hopefully my grandfather told me to do whatever I wanted but to do it 100%. After my experience in Australia I got accepted to one of the bests Drama Schools in Spain and later I got a grant to finish my degree in London at the Rose Bruford College of the Performing Arts. I also spent to summers in NY studying at the HB Studio. New York was also a breaking point for me. They filled me up with knowledge, good energy and discipline.
For five years I worked in over 20o shortfilms and met a lot of filmmakers. I was fortunate to had good opportunities and worked with great spanish directors like Bigas Luna, Alex de la Iglesia or Santiago Segura.
My interest in the film industry made me take another step and I started working in both sides of the camera. I felt that I have always taken every chance that I had to do what I love and after 20 years of dedication I have worked in many different countries and in very different projects. I will always keep pushing for the next opportunity.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I love what I do and I just cannot do anything else. Telling stories through film, TV or stage is beautiful and necessary. I believe that entertaining is necessary but it also bring us together in many different levels, make us think, heal and evolve sometimes. When you hit the right notes and are able to do all those things at the same time in one project it’s just wonderful.
I started as an actor but I have written and produced a few projects already and very recently directed my first feature film, Ibiza Blue, that will be distributed world wide soon.
My goal and my mission is definitely keep doing what I do and enjoy the journey.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
It is definitely sharing your projects with the audience and their feedback. With my latest film Ibiza Blue it’s being an amazing trip. When you see that something you’ve created from scratch gets to people in a positive way, it’s an unbeatable feeling.
I been lucky to travel a lot promoting my film Ibiza Blue, and having people come to you in tears but with a smile, hug you and thank you for telling a story like that one, it’s just amazing.
