We recently connected with Corynn Welch and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Corynn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
My love for hospitality and event planning began in college in my early 20’s. I completed my degree at Coastal Carolina University with Communication Studies, and a minor in both Journalism and Public Relations. I interned for the Carolina Country Music Festival and immediately knew the events industry is where I belonged.
Shortly after college I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina and was given the opportunity to put my skills to work as the Sales and Events manager for a local hospitality group.
In 2021, I hosted girl’s birthday trip to Nashville and had a real-life movie experience leaving the city with a Sales and Events job for a local tap house and venue downtown. I quickly packed my bags, and moved to Nashville in June 2021, Over the last year of being in Nashville, I have not only built my career but also my own identity in the industry.
Currently as of September 2023, I am the new Senior Events Sales Manager for Hyatt Centric in Downtown Nashville. This new role is a hybrid role which focuses on both growing our catering sales and executing client events. The sales team at Hyatt Centric is truly one of the most welcoming, hardworking, and outgoing group of individuals I have ever worked for in my career. I am truly grateful to have ended up in this role.

Corynn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
What I am most proud of is how far I have grown in my career in the short time that I have lived in Nashville. As we get ready to enter 2024, I look back at the girl who packed her bags, knowing nothing about the city of Nashville and completely transformed into a socialite of the hospitality industry. In an industry that is forever changing, I look forward to continuing to push myself to grow.
For all of my clients (past, present and future), I take pride on connecting with each and every one to keep a lasting relationship with them. Over-seeing a great client event brings me such joy to my career, and I am excited to get to be creative within the Hyatt team.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social Media is something that I have really started to grow within the last year. Within my sales career, LinkedIn has been a great tool to connect with my clients. It is truly amazing how your network can bring in business. With each client, I make sure to connect with them and majority of the time they will share posts based on my business as well as refer or repeat an event.
With hospitality within Nashville, personal social media has a big presence as well. I have been lucky enough to have been part of multiple events, photo shoots. media commercials and more, which have helped me branch out in this city.
My best advice to anyone younger in the hospitality industry is to network. You truly never know who you will talk to or what that person brings to the table. If nothing at all, you will have made a new friend in your city!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
One of my goals in this role is to take risks in this industry. With my role being newer at this location, I want to think outside the box and create a wonderful environment that keeps people wanting to come back for more. I have the ability to not only drive revenue, but also grow my existing role into something great and that motivates me to keep pushing.
