We were lucky to catch up with Black India Rose recently and have shared our conversation below.
Black India , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Color Highlights is a splash of inspiration and color into this dull world we live in.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I, Black India Rose a woman who see the world in many colors, whether is white, black, gray, or even orange. I see it! When I created my first art poster it was just me playing around on my iPad with different filters, layouts and other graphic tools on a single picture and soon as I as finish with the outcome I fell deeply in love with it, making me feel like I was that little girl back in elementary school being creative, being free, being vulnerable. I fell back in love with my inner child and at that moment like parents do when they’re proud of their children accomplishments, they hang up their work. I was so proud of my design I printed it out turning it into a 20×30 art poster. Wanting to share my work I created Color Highlights. CHL stands more than just a brand but the wonderful light that’s come to you, something you can hang up in your space and feel a sense of belonging, something to light up the bore surroundings. I hope I am able to bring back the good memories and beauty they see in life when they purchase my posters.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being able to have freedom to express, I feel as though responsibilities took that away from us making us bounded into the matrix, such as working citizens, parents who have to take care of their children with no support, or having to be a great wife or husband, or even having been drilled into us that we have to be this particular person, when all you wanna be is free, all you wanna do is what you want to do. All you wanna have is a choice to make your own decisions and not get judged by it, so again the most rewarding thing for being creative, is that it allows me to be the Goddess ( I am), for we were put on this earth to create and experience.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
To be vulnerable, to let your business be vulnerable, let your creativity be vulnerable, meet people even if you are scared, go to functions talk about your business even if you feel like you don’t really know what to say. TAKE RISKS, BE YOURSELF AND SHOW UP FOR YOUR BUSINESS EVERYDAY !
