Alpha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
Our human brains extrude thousands of thoughts and Ideas every day that it’s hard to keep track sometimes. But there are some ideas that are supernaturally planted in our brains that we feel conviction of, this dying possession to execute and make the most of that idea that was given to us.
That being said, How I actually started was just being in the moment. Feeling my emotions of either happy or calm thoughts and portraying it through song. Every time I would have a feeling, I would either write it in my notes, record gibberish on my phone recordings, or even just painting a picture. I always tried to keep it childlike, in terms of having fun and not worrying too much what the left and right side have to say, but just doing it for the love and passion of it and focusing on my personal satisfaction.
For me to move beyond the i”dea” stage was first identifying my mission, thinking to myself on what emotion I want specific people to feel from these songs and putting my best foot forward to execute that.
Listening to others and gaining inspirations from the world contributed to that tremendously.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m an artist, producer, label executive and lover! The craft of music and business is just beautiful to me. I was blessed enough to find a tribe of core people who really support my vision and art that i put out to the world, and after finally embracing my tribe of supporters, it created a yellow brick road for me to turn this dream into a career through small things like buying tickets to my concerts, streaming/playlisting my music and even sharing on socials and word of mouth, goes a long way. That’s something I see very successful businesses and artists do to grow, is to embrace their tribe, their target market, and the clients/fans who support you through the thick and thin. Because if you steward the little you have, God will bless you with more.
As I look back on the year There’s so much to be proud of, such as Headlining the historic Peppermint Club, traveling along the west coast for concerts, gaining a large lonesome of streams on the internet. But what I’m most proud of is stewarding my tribe of supporter.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The impact and joy it bring to people! After one of my shows in Hollywood, this woman in the crowd who I just met that night, hugged me and was tearing up in my arms, telling me how much my performance gave her hope and joy through a time that was empty and lost. It brings me joy and fulfilment to know that I can bring joy and hope through my music ultimately leading people to God and peace.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Being realistic and the tone of knowing everything and having things figured out, was something I had to unlearn from my hometown environment. Drake said it perfectly ” an amateur build the ark, but professionals built the titanic.” Not having things figured out is honestly the best way to growth, that means you are more prone to learn more and seek knowledge because you have a growth mindset. Verses a fixed mindset, who wouldn’t be as prone to change and adaptations.
