We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brian Davis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brian below.
Hi Brian, thanks for joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
It’s been a rewarding challenge to play music almost exclusively and making a living at it but the journey has just begun.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I think it all began for me around the age of 6 after my Brother passed away and my Father left us. Discovering music was the light in all that dismal shade and kept me out of a lot of trouble as the years went on. My buddy Mike and I started our first little band when we were 10 playing mostly AC/DC type stuff. I was on Drums and he played Guitar. I really have to thank my Mother for supporting and putting up with that! From then on my life was mixed between Art and Music until the age of 16 when I finally just decided to pursue the latter. So from my own High School Band METAMORPHOSIS, Marching Band then The Navy Band that’s what I did and as I mentioned previously it kept out of a lot of trouble. Now most recently I’m enjoying success as a multi-instrumentalist switching it up between Vocals, Guitar, Drums and Piano with my new group VERADO celebrating the new year with our debut along with some video game and TV/Film offers and our new tribute to the mighty! Led Zeppelin ZEPTUNE which I play Robert Plant and is already gaining traction in, and around California. Both bands have been really well received due in part to the fact that we really strive to serve the listener by giving them a great show both sonically and visually and because of my background in Graphic design we’ve been really able to share our brand with variety of people which has really helped to expand our reach. So that’s it in nutshell of where I’ve been and where I’m going. Thank You! for letting me share this with you.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Yes! and I think this goes for all the Creatives out there. Essentially we are creating something out of nothing, However, not everybody always sees the grander scope and that is why I feel it so important to learn everything about your craft right down to creating a final product. All the Branding, Art, Text, Sonics, Visuals etc. Because sometimes you might find yourself the only one who is all in on the grander scope.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Support local original talent. Because as much as I love being in a tribute I love our original band VERADO way! more. It is so important for the true development of ones character. Anyone can copy, try creating, making a statement, standing up for, and being loyal to something you want or need to share.
