We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Caitlin Spears. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Caitlin below.
Caitlin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I had several of these moments throughout the last few years, both on the journey to figuring out what my new professional career would look like after almost a decade of modeling as well as when I started my business and got my first client. I’ll never forget the moment that I allowed my inner voice, my intuition, to guide me to enrolling in school to become a Certified Health Coach. Several years ago I didn’t even know what a certified health coach was, and here I was enrolling in a program I still knew very little about, but just felt this guided push that I was exactly where I needed to be and that one day this one decision was going to impact millions. Flash forward to creating my LLC and taking the first steps to enrolling my first client. People asked me how can you feel confident in an industry that’s so saturated and my first thought was, isn’t every industry technically saturated? My second thought was I had never even thought about the industry being “saturated”, only that I had a unique perspective and a passion to share my knowledge about healthy living with the world. I believe that’s what sets us apart in any industry – our unique ability to share and create from our lived experiences. My business has literally changed my life: how I think, act, and show up in every area of my life and that is something I’ll never forget.

Caitlin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Caitlin Spears, and I am originally from a town of 2,500 people in Oklahoma. I was scouted for America’s Next Top Model when I was 18 and ended up being cut right before filming. This rejection sent me on a 3-4 year downward spiral of body dysmorphia, depression, anxiety, and an eating disorder. 7 years ago, I decided to stand up and find myself again and that was the greatest thing I ever did for myself; I took back my power in this world.
I went on to have a successful modeling career over the past 7 years and allowed nutrition and fitness to be at the forefront of my journey moving forward in life. In 2022, I decided I wanted more and was ready for what my next chapter of life held for me. I knew I wanted to connect, evolve, and help people in this next chapter, but I didn’t know how. I went on to enroll in IIN (the Institute for Integrative Nutrition), PN (Precision Nutrition), and ACE Fitness to get my health, nutrition and fitness coaching certifications. I didn’t always know I wanted to be an entrepreneur, but I definitely knew I wanted full control of my business and I was strong enough and willing to put in the work to become one.
I ended up enrolling in business mastermind that helped me launch my 1 on 1 coaching program and I went on to take courses from people like Amy Porterfield to further systemize and scale my business. Today, I am the Founder of Complete by Caitlin, an online health coaching platform helping women all over the world become healthier, happier and more confident versions of themselves.
I have already helped dozens of women over the past year reach their health goals and create massive change in their life and I am 100% sure that this is the just the beginning for my business empire I am building! I currently offer 12-week 1 on 1 coaching programs that are bio-individual to each client and their specific health concerns and goals, plus I just launched my first ever course the Look Good Feel Good Academy – a 12 week group coaching course that teaches my 4-step method The CAIT method to help you reach your health goals without confusion, self doubt or uncertainty. What sets me apart from other health coaches is that I am not trying to be like anyone else, I show up as I am, originally and authentically and I truly believe that’s what has built my community so quickly. I help women work through things like mindset blocks, nutrition, movement, routines, confidence, weight loss, stress management, and so much more. The thing I am most proud of is that since launching my business I have shown up, on my good days and on my bad days. I show up for my community and I believe that will benefit me in the long run. Being an entrepreneur in the health industry is not easy, but it’s so worth it.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I have always been the kind of person who runs fast, the go-go-go type of girl and I believe so much good has come from this, but I also believe I had so much to learn from this approach to life when I started my business. I remember getting upset at myself when I didn’t think my business was growing fast enough and I had to sit with myself and remind myself of how far I had come. The book “The Gap and the Gain” by really helped me to discover that I needed to remember to focus on how far I had come (the gain) even if I wasn’t where I wanted to be (the gap). I now live by the motto: slow down to speed up (progress). We live in a society that we think we need everything instantly and Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will my badass empire.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
“The Simple Path to Wealth” helped me to unlock the power of simplifying financial planning at a young age. I believe this book is something every young person should read in their twenties.
“The 5AM Club” taught me so many valuable tools and systems that I implement into my daily life, work and habits.
And “The Gap and the Gain” was such a simple concept, but one that I believe we all need to be reminded of. This simple mindset shift in our perspective can have a profound impact on how we continue to show up for ourselves, our business, and the world!
