We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Pelice a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you signed with an agent or manager? Why or why not?
Signing with an agent honestly is not the easiest thing, it can be hard to do. You just need to keep pushing and doing what you love and putting your work out there.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am an actress who is also a model and singer. I was born in New York but is now based in Massachusetts. I received my BS in Psychology. I first discovered her love for performing at a very young age through movies and listening to music. This lead to joining all kinds of opportunities such as I school’s choir, orchestra and band.In college I joined a dance team for the Latin X organization and hosted events for the multicultural student association. I now spend time with family, my Pomeranian puppy, and traveling to different parts of the world apart from acting and modeling.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’ve gone through so much research on how to get started, but being able to really get into this work is by investing in yourself and taking classes. Learning as much as you can to be able to really know if this is something you want to to and putting time in. I’ve gone through few different shows and showcases and some have not gone well and finally I gave another showcase a shot and got an agent and so far it has been a great benefit!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn what a failure means, it does not mean that you are not good enough. It just means that even though this did not work out, there is another opportunity out there to get you where you need to be.
