Simone, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

Readings By Simone is the name of my company. I wanted a name that reflected the services I provide, and have my first name attached. Spiritual and intuitive reading is the process of a spiritualist using his or her intuitive energy, to decode someone else’s energy, thus relaying messages from the universe (God, the ancestors or spirit guides). These messages are to offer guidance in a person’s life whether it is spiritual, financial, mental, professional or business.

Simone means “great listener” in Hebrew. What a coincidence … or not – which is key in the work that I do; being able to listen to the client and the universe simultaneously.

It took a few days of me sitting with the ancestors and for a nod of approval, for the birth of Readings By Simone.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

For over 15 years I have been offering spiritual readings to family and friends on their personal, professional and spiritual life, connecting them to loved ones who have transitioned, and giving spiritual guidance on their past, present and future.

After several years of working in marketing, event planning and enjoying every minute of it, the universe advised that I focus on my spirituality as a way of life. I fought that message tooth and nail, and inevitably lost. I tried to balance both my professional and spiritual life and eventually had to quit the corporate world. Readings By Simone was birthed and is now my way of life. The majority of my clientele cover all economic, cultural and religious backgrounds.

I am a spiritualist, medium and intuitive reader. My services include offering spiritual readings to individuals, couples and family, also guidance on career development and business. I assist folks on their spiritual journey, offering guidance on spiritual hygiene and how discipline and consistency with their spiritual practice and rituals can lead to keener problem solving skills.

What sets me apart from the rest is that I show individuals how looking within can help with improving their lives. Doing the shadow work, releasing generational trauma, strengthening ones intuition, connecting with your ancestors working on their internal struggles would help with life.

In 2022, I launched an event called Sacred Conversation With Our Ancestors, a 4-day guided ancestral experience honoring our ancestors. The experience is held in Barbados and brings together healers and those in the diaspora seeking a deeper spiritual connection. During the workshops, attendees discuss mental health and spirituality, spiritual hygiene, and the ancient practice of ancestral veneration. Sacred Conversations With Our Ancestors spiritual retreat, is creating a supportive space where the diaspora can come together to deepen their ancestral connection.

There is also Spirituality & Your Ancestors course, a on-one seven (7) week course, aimed at individuals seeking guidance on their spiritual journey and connecting with their ancestors

The main thing I wants folks to know about Simone and Readings By Simone, is that this is a space built and maintained with integrity and where you are taught the tools needed for you to become grounded spiritually. It is a safe space without judgement, and all creed, color and race are welcome. It is then up you to do the work on your self for all your dreams and desires to manifest

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Readings By Simone was officially started late 2019. I was at rock bottom in my life and the only lifeline was my spiritual gift, my ability to spiritually read people and communicate with the ancestors. I called all my friends who knew of my gift and told them I was going public with my abilities. I had always kept my gift a secret; my parents and siblings did not know of my abilities. I was ashamed of who I was and the gift the universe had blessed me with. I was afraid of being ridiculed and labeled as evil, because in Christian circles, persons with my gifts are called evil and are associated with the devil. I was moving in fear, until fear led to me being financially ruined and unemployed.

Late 2019, I created the Readings By Simone Instagram page. I followed and engaged with individuals who were also spiritualists or offered some form of divination service. Then the pandemic happened and we were all locked inside. I started a Sunday weekly live show called, “Sacred Conversations With Simone”. This was an interview styled show where I interviewed folks offering or practicing spiritual wellness tools. The interviewees spanned the African diaspora from USA, Canada, Caribbean and South America.

Doing this increased my following and individuals booking my services. This also birthed my Readings By Simone YouTube channel, where I posted the interview for folks who did not have Instagram.

As we were all still in-doors, I was invited to the audio social media platform Clubhouse, where my platform at one point had over 5000 followers and I would be a co-host on a weekly show called, “Ask A Black Psychic Then, I created a club called “Readings By Simone”, where we discussed all spiritual and wellness tools and sometimes gave free readings.

Creating these shows on these platforms opened the doors for me to be invited on noted influencers’ platforms to discuss the work I was doing as well as spirituality.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn not sitting in my truth and not being my authentic self.

Coming from a Christian background, doing the work that I do is deemed the work of the devil or evil. I was ashamed of who I was and my abilities. It took me hitting rock bottom and losing everything I had to make a change in my life. I had to accept who I was and stand in my truth, unlearn the stereotypes I had created in my head about who I was, therefore understanding that I was a gift not only to others, but to myself. Love me for me FIRST in order to share my love, gift and knowledge with others. There was a lot of releasing of fear and doubt, embracing me from the inside out, looking in the mirror and seeing a different reflection of myself with now the title of spiritualist, intuitive reader and medium attached.
