Mike , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m 36 years old I was introduced to the electrical field by a mentor of mine when I was 24 years old. He took me under his wing and hired me as an apprentice and from there I gained knowledge and went on to further my experience and education. The services I provide are residential and commercial as well as landscape lighting. I do Electrical vehicle chargers. I do recessed lighting and chandeliers. I take pride in my work. I pride myself great customer service and delivering the vision of the clients. I’m proud of my consistency and my growth and my quality of work. I have social media platforms. Im on google. I’m in works to build a new website. I’m a family man. I’m honest. I care about the opinion of others my craft.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
For over 7 years I’ve been in the electrical field industry. And I used to work for a commercial electrical company. Where there I settled in with one company for a few years and then bounced around trying to find a home. Somewhere that appreciates what I have to offer to their respective companies. In which I feel this was not happening for me. And built a lot of frustration and anxiety for me in the workplace. I then knew I had to pivot. Not thinking that I was ready to start an electrical company. I still took the leap of faith. And today I can it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Because now I can see. Now I have purpose. I have no ceiling. The sky is the limit. And I will say to the youth or anyone for that matter. If you’re lost in your career path on how to make a honest living. I will say learning a trade is a great decision. As you will obtain knowledge that no one can take from you and a skill that is in high demand. Which that itself will give you purpose and make you feel empowered.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Maintaining a team. It’s a lot of responsibility. As this team will now represent your business. Let that sink in. The people you hire or contract now are a direct representation of you. Also, you have to treat them as you want to be treated. Especially because I’ve been in their shoes. Respect them. Pay them fair. Give them incentives. Be a leader and show them your way while letting them have their own approach .
