We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rodrigo Gallego. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rodrigo below.
Rodrigo, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Having a business is not easy and probably not for everybody, but in my case I can’t think of ever going back to do a regular job.
I have always wanted to find an activity where I was able to help people, to make an impact.
And after you find that, that “thing” that makes you excited every day to do you job, then, there is no way back to any other job that is just a transaction of time for money.
Of course, owning and working to grow a business is not easy, lots of ups and down, all the time. Sometimes, and for a second you wish you have just a regular “job”
Owning a business is much much more than just doing a job, especially when you are 100% vested on it. It requires so much from you, but you just don’t care because the vision and the satisfaction is bigger.
That is my case with Barefoot Movers.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am personal trainer and founder of Barefoot Movers where I focus on helping adults 40+ restore their natural capacity to stay active, pain free, moving well and for the long haul.
I have created “The Comeback” Program, that is not just a training program but a whole coaching system where my students get the chance to start where they are and progressively improve all the key areas to start feeling and moving better regardless of their age.
They don’t come to me because they want to loose weight or build muscles, they join because, just like me, they want to feel good in their bodies, avoid common “age” related pain and injuries, and being able to keep doing the activities and sports they love.
The coolest thing is that they can do the program from home, at their own time, with minimal equipment but with my direct guidance and coaching. This is very important because the little details are the ones that have the potential to make the big difference for them.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
For me Covid was the big catalyst into transition into 100% online business. Up until then I was an in person trainer, but the pandemic forced us to go inside and there was no way I was going to leave them alone at those difficult times.
With all the time, and not much else to do I committed 100% to use the opportunity to challenge myself into making the move to the digital world.
Just like with everything else, it is not easy at first, but I saw the potential of reaching people in other areas that needed my help, and also reducing the logistic time for all my clients.
I stick with it, worked on it, and I am very happy now with the community that we have grown and with the results that they are getting. It is pretty amazing!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social Media is such a powerful tool, but it can be intimidating at the beginning. I didn’t like the idea of putting myself there and “showing” people what they need to do, or how they need to train or move.
I was a bit shy and hesitant, until a friend of mine told me that people need to see that, and that they will benefit, they will get inspired and that I will do them a disservice if I don’t post regularly. And that made a lot of sense to me, and I decided to do it without worrying much about anything else…
With time and practice it has become easier and I can say that I enjoy creating my post and sharing my ideas, suggestions, views, etc.
My advice would be not to worry, and just post, find your style, what feels good to you so it is easier to stay consistent. that way and your people will find you.
