We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Javon Talley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Javon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?
For the last six years, I have dedicated my life to helping those not just a need but to be better than what they were yesterday. I used to make 9.25 an hour as a part-time cashier, but was willing to put my entire check into some kind of charity event for my community. Corporate America tells our citizens you need some kind of tax ID number to help those in need, but when did love have a price. People should not feel like they need a business name to do what their heart desires.

Javon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the cofounder of two organizations. The first one being The Royal Falcon Brand. Where we host as the incubator and lifestyle management for those who want to add positive positivity to their life and the world we branch off into podcasting, merchandising and fitness. The other organization name is the foundation where we are a group of men from different backgrounds that believe in brotherhood, resilience, unity and hustle(BRUH). we like to serve as an example of what a man can be in this world.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Normally, I have long-winded stories, but this one is real easy. A lesson I had to unlearn is that not everyone deserves to be a part of your story. I came to this realization when my company underwent multiple face changes. I partnered with so many many people who believe they shared my vision, but they had different intentions. I allowed people who did not have my best interest sit at my table and break bread with me. I was so blinded by wanting to help that I did not see the Judas in them.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I love this question because I preached this to a lot of new business owners every single day. No one will buy your craft if they do not see you supporting your own craft when it comes to starting and running, a new business social media is the biggest platform to use when I started to advertise The Royal Falcon Brand I only got likes from the same people in my home and I had to ask for that. However, I knew where we were going to be. So every chance that I got, I posted a picture with my merchandise on. I went to the gym with my merchandise on. I went to go help the community with my merchandise on I would make a TikTok or a viral post, and somehow throw my companies logo on there. You have to believe in your company more than your consumers. Do not Feel discourage if you only get one or two likes because they see it but that’s just not the audience you need to start advertising to. Over 1 million people in this world, the people in your city are not the only ones for you.
